We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New You // Nós desejamos um Feliz Natal e um Novo Você

It is Christmas, finally! Who doesn’t want for this year to be over sooner rather than later? Wow, what year!

But what gives you the hope that next year will be better than this? According to Murphy’s law, “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong". In fact, we don’t know that next year will be better or worse. What makes you wonder?

Maybe, there is meaning why they chose to place Christmas at the end of the year (nobody knows exactly the date of Jesus’ birthday). The birth of Jesus, in the Christian world, Jesus represents hope. The hope of a new beginning, the hope of a new life, a rebirth. So, everybody hopes to start the new year with a fresh start, a clean slate.  Why? Maybe you have no idea why you and most of the world thinks that this is how it is. A new year, new things, the old has passed, the new has come.

The gospel says exactly this. Once you decide to believe that God came down to earth to tell us the good news which is: you can have a new life, you can be free of everything that makes you stumble and fall short of God, that you will have your sins forgiven. In summary, you can have a new beginning, a new life, that your old self has passed, and that your new self with Jesus has come.

Jesus came to say that if only we believe we can be saved. Saved from what? Well, I would say, saved from ourselves, from the chains that you think you don’t have, but deep down you know that there are many things in your life, in your heart, that you wished they would be gone, but you are used to saying “it’s complicated”. Indeed, it is when you don’t have Jesus by your side. So, whatever it is that makes you be far from God, He came to redeem you, to bring you back to His presence; so, you can have hope that one day you will see His glory in all His splendor face to face. He takes away the doubt about what happens after death. If only you decide to walk in His path, that doubt will be no more.

So, this thought came to mind. I believe it wasn’t by chance they (whoever they might have been who created the holidays) choose to put Christmas at the very end of the year. After all, Christmas is about Jesus, He is the best gift you could ever have in your life. Jesus coming to the World to tell us that there is hope. You can really let the old you behind. Give it a try sincerely.

Matthew 7:7 says, “ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: ” So, why not sincerely ask God to come to live in your heart? Why not seek His presence? Why not knock on His door? He will give it to you whatever it is that your heart desire. Is it your temper that ruins all the mood? Is it that addiction that ruined your family? Something that you have been trying for so long, and you are quite hopeless because you have tried everything you can imagine. Have you tried Him? Sincerely? From the depth of your heart?

Let this Christmas be new, different. Give Him a chance to change you and make you New.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Sinceramente? Do fundo do seu coração?

Que este Natal seja novo, diferente. Dê a Ele a chance de mudar você e torná-lo Novo.

Feliz Natal e um Feliz Ano Novo!

Come and See + Judge correctly // Venha e Veja + Julgue corretamente

Venha e Veja   Two verses stood out for me this morning. John 7:17-18 and 7:24.   “ Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.   18  Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:24 “ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”   That was Jesus talking.  I lately heard that some people with vast knowledge of the Bible (we all want to believe) are being led astray through the vain doctrines of this world. Meaning, that some church leaders or people have earned the people's trust by telling them lies about the teachings of the Bible. People seek their own popularity by agreeing with the lies the world has offered them.  I have seen churches with flags and teaching doctrines that the Bible condemns. They have twisted the Word of God to be more acceptable and palatab

Pointing finger // Apontar o dedo

Recently I was studying the Sermon on the mount in a bible study at the church. It was wonderful to meditate and go deep in these Jesus’ words. So many details we sometimes don’t realize. We are very quick to see the flaws and failures of others. But interestingly the things we see faster in others are probably the things we don’t see or won’t see in ourselves. It is easy to point a finger when someone is, for example, throwing trash on the streets, when one doesn’t even bother to do the same at home. In Brazil, we have this saying “blacksmith’s house, woodpecker.” Who are you to point a finger to anyone when you yourself cannot do better? Your sin is no smaller than his. Jesus said, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ( Matthew 7 :3). Look, sawdust is something small, and plank or log is something much bigger than sawdust. Sometimes we are able to see something very insignificant in othe

Are you lost? // Você está perdido?

Você está perdido? There is always this time in life when we are certain about what to do with our lives. We have a goal, and an objective to reach. However, it is often that life turns the other way around and our plans are made nothing. Frequently I hear people say, “I am lost, I don’t know what to do!” That happens when we put our goals into something that changes. Everything in this world change. You and I are changing by the minute. My thoughts right now are running like crazy, and if I don’t set a goal in something that doesn’t change, I can’t do anything. What is it?   Jesus. The word of God. You might think I am crazy, and lunatic or even a fanatic. But who really knows me, know that I am none of those things. I am a very sensible person who has lived and experienced many things. And I don’t lie. So, if you are experiencing a sense of loss and despair, how about putting your hope in the One who cannot change whatsoever. If you lost you
