Today I heard
a very sad testimony of a man who has been afflicted with a terrible disease
or diseases, and although he has been through several surgeries and
treatments, his faith still remains. Even knowing that God is not going to
heal him because of His purposes, his hope for eternal life holds. It made me
think that I also have health issues, nothing like his; what made me feel a
little ashamed because at the beginning of his testimony, I said that if it
were me, I would have killed myself twice. I know how weak my faith is. But
one thing I know, God’s plans are still better. I don’t understand them, but
I have the same hope. His plans don’t depend on my faith to happen. He has
the control. I hear people
confronting God, or questioning his existence based on the cruelty in this
world. If there is no God, where does your “goodness” come from? Even if you
admit that God exists and you have rejected him because of something that has
happened to you or to the world, let me ask you something: Where is it
written in your Bible that life should be easy for everyone? Where is it
written in your Bible that God has to purge the evil of this world right here
and right now because you feel bothered by it or because you are a victim of
it? (God will do it in due time, his time and not yours.) In my Bible,
God created a perfect world and gave these little creatures the choice of
choosing between good and evil. These same creatures have carried out for
thousands and thousands of years the same evilness. God once regretted
creating these creatures who destroy everything He has created, including
themselves; He wanted to destroy them all. But you know, after all, He made
us like this, He knew that this would happen. So, he tried again, because He
loves what He has made. It didn’t matter. We are still the same, evil in our
nature. We might not kill with our hands, but for sure we have killed with
our thoughts and words more than once in our lives. In the whole
Bible, there isn’t one, nor even one person, who had an easy life. A person
who had all his dreams come true. All people described in the Bible have
wronged someone or others more than once, including God. God brought judgment
to a lot of them immediately, to others it came later. People like judging God for all the killing described in
the Bible. Yes, he ordered to destroy completely some peoples, why? Because
that was their judgment. How many of us have not desired to death of those
Islamic terrorists? Don’t you think that they deserve death? So, we are in no
position to judge them, even knowing the atrocities they have done and will
do. God, who sees all, is the only one capable of judging them. So, those
horrific stories in the Bible are God’s judgments. We want God’s judgment on
others, never on us. For us, we want mercy, right? We see ourselves as good
people. But because of His justice, God makes no discrimination; if we are to
have mercy and grace, so are they. It is in their hands to accept it or not.
Just like it is in our hands. God did
something to help us. He sent Jesus. But as a human, he too had a hard life
from the beginning to the end. I heard Tim Mackie talking about Matthew 2. Jesus’ story. I have never
thought about it like this - Did Mary and Joseph have a perfect life? After
all, they were caring for the Son of God. No, they did not. From the
beginning, nothing was easy for them. Have you thought about the guilt Mary
might have carried for all those babies’ deaths that happened because of
Jesus? Can you imagine traveling on a donkey through a desert with a toddler
or a kid? How many questions might they have had for God? Why, God, are you
doing this to us? Aren’t we doing His will? Jesus’ life
was a reminder of Israel’s story. But he would be their savior, not for being
a king, a warrior. But by defeating death itself and sins. He suffered as
much as we suffer. The life of the Son of God wasn’t easy. Why is it that we
always ask God for healing, solving our problems, and we blame him for
everything that goes wrong in our lives and in the world? We should be asking
for forgiveness and keep trying to live like he did, with the teachings he
taught, believing in him. Because only through him, we will get to the
Father. We won’t have rewards in this life, so just
get used to it. If you seek your reward in this life, that is all you’ll get. We made life
hard—we and our sins, our selfishness, our unbelief. We have rejected God
from the beginning. How can you expect good to come from us if He is the
source of all goodness? We are very
ungrateful. There is nothing in the Bible also saying that says God should
answer all our prayers in the way we
want to. God does whatever He wants to us recognize His power, and give glory
to His name. There is this sentence in the Bible, especially in Exodus – So
they will know that I am the LORD. Because of my
sin, the only thing I deserve is death, but his love is so great that he
couldn’t let that happen. So he died in my place; he took the blame for my
sins. I must accept what he has done for me, otherwise, God will not accept
me either. Go and read your Bible. |
Hoje ouvi um testemunho muito
triste de um homem que foi acometido por uma ou mais doenças terríveis e,
embora tenha passado por várias cirurgias e tratamentos, sua fé ainda
permanece. Mesmo sabendo que Deus não vai curá-lo por causa de Seus
propósitos, sua esperança pela vida eterna permanece.
Isso me fez pensar que eu também
tenho problemas de saúde, nada parecidos com os dele; o que me deixou um
pouco envergonhada, pois no início do seu testemunho, eu disse que, se fosse
eu, teria me matado duas vezes. Sei o quão fraca é a minha fé. Mas uma coisa
eu sei: os planos de Deus ainda são melhores. Eu não os entendo, mas tenho a
mesma esperança. Seus planos não dependem da minha fé para se concretizarem.
Ele está no controle.
Ouço pessoas confrontando Deus ou
questionando Sua existência com base na crueldade deste mundo. Se Deus não
existe, de onde vem a sua "bondade"? Mesmo que você admita que Deus
existe e o tenha rejeitado por algo que aconteceu com você ou com o mundo,
deixe-me perguntar uma coisa: onde está escrito na sua Bíblia que a vida deve
ser fácil para todos? Onde está escrito na sua Bíblia que Deus precisa
expurgar o mal deste mundo aqui e agora porque você se sente incomodado por
ele ou porque é vítima dele? (Deus fará isso no devido tempo, o tempo dele e
não o seu.)
Na minha Bíblia, Deus criou um
mundo perfeito e deu a essas pequenas criaturas a escolha entre o bem e o
mal. Essas mesmas criaturas têm praticado a mesma maldade por milhares e
milhares de anos. Deus certa vez se arrependeu de ter criado essas criaturas
que destroem tudo o que Ele criou, inclusive a si mesmas; Ele queria destruir
a todos. Mas, afinal, Ele nos fez assim, Ele sabia que isso aconteceria.
Então, Ele tentou novamente, porque ama o que criou. Não importava. Ainda
somos os mesmos, maus em nossa natureza. Podemos não matar com as mãos, mas
certamente já matamos com nossos pensamentos e palavras mais de uma vez em
nossas vidas.
Em toda a Bíblia, não há uma única
pessoa, nem mesmo uma, que tenha tido uma vida fácil. Uma pessoa que tenha
realizado todos os seus sonhos. Todas as pessoas descritas na Bíblia
prejudicaram alguém ou outras pessoas mais de uma vez, incluindo Deus. Deus
trouxe julgamento a muitas delas imediatamente, e a outras veio mais tarde. As pessoas gostam de julgar a Deus por
todas as mortes descritas na Bíblia. Sim, Ele ordenou a destruição completa
de alguns povos, por quê? Porque esse foi o julgamento delas. Quantos de nós
não desejamos a morte daqueles terroristas islâmicos? Você não acha que eles
merecem a morte? Portanto, não estamos em posição de julgá-los, mesmo sabendo
das atrocidades que cometeram e cometerão. Deus, que vê tudo, é o único capaz
de julgá-los. Portanto, essas histórias horríveis na Bíblia são julgamentos
de Deus. Queremos o julgamento de Deus sobre os outros, nunca sobre nós. Para
nós, queremos misericórdia, certo? Nos vemos como pessoas boas. Mas, por
causa de Sua justiça, Deus não faz distinção; se devemos ter misericórdia e
graça, eles também terão. Está em suas mãos aceitar ou não. Assim como está
em nossas mãos.
Deus fez algo para nos ajudar. Ele
enviou Jesus. Mas, como humano, Ele também teve uma vida difícil do começo ao
fim. Ouvi Tim Mackie falando sobre Mateus 2. A história de Jesus. Nunca
pensei nisso dessa forma: Maria e José tiveram uma vida perfeita? Afinal,
eles estavam cuidando do Filho de Deus. Não, não. Desde o começo, nada foi
fácil para eles. Você já pensou na culpa que Maria pode ter carregado por
todas aquelas mortes de bebês que aconteceram por causa de Jesus? Você
consegue imaginar viajar em um jumento pelo deserto com uma criança pequena
ou um bebê? Quantas perguntas eles podem ter feito a Deus? Por que, Deus,
está fazendo isso conosco? Não estamos fazendo a Sua vontade?
A vida de Jesus foi um lembrete da
história de Israel. Mas ele seria o salvador deles, não por ser um rei, um
guerreiro. Mas por derrotar a própria morte e os pecados. Ele sofreu tanto
quanto nós sofremos. A vida do Filho de Deus não foi fácil. Por que sempre
pedimos a Deus por cura, por solução para os nossos problemas, e o culpamos
por tudo o que dá errado em nossas vidas e no mundo? Devemos pedir perdão e
continuar tentando viver como Ele viveu, com os ensinamentos que Ele nos deu,
crendo Nele. Porque somente por meio Dele chegaremos ao Pai. Não teremos recompensas nesta vida, então se acostume com isso.
Se você busca sua recompensa nessa vida, é tudo o que receberá.
Tornamos a vida difícil — nós e
nossos pecados, nosso egoísmo, nossa incredulidade. Rejeitamos a Deus desde o
princípio. Como você pode esperar que o bem venha de nós se Ele é a fonte de
toda a bondade?
Somos muito ingratos. Não há nada
na Bíblia que diga que Deus deve responder a todas as nossas orações da
maneira que queremos. Deus faz o que quer para que reconheçamos o Seu poder e
demos glória ao Seu nome. Há esta frase na Bíblia, especialmente em Êxodo:
Para que saibam que eu sou o Senhor.
Por causa do meu pecado, a única
coisa que mereço é a morte, mas o amor dele é tão grande que ele não podia
deixar isso acontecer. Então ele morreu em meu lugar; ele assumiu a culpa
pelos meus pecados. Devo aceitar o que Ele fez por mim, caso contrário, Deus
