Do you serve? // Você serve?

Service. How do you feel about serving? What exactly do you understand what the verb “to serve” means? It means to work for someone as a servant, to prepare and offer, to provide good and services for costumer and so on. OK. Serving people is not always gratifying, or joyful. It can be messy, troubling and tiring. No reward. Sometimes it is a humiliating job. What would you think if I tell you that Jesus came to earth as a servant? And if we are called Christian because we follow Him and we follow a servant, so we should be servants as well. Right? Why do you call yourself Christian? Are you imitating Jesus also in this sense? Why do you want to be like Jesus if you struggle so much to serve? Jesus washed his disciples’ feet in an era there weren’t shoes to protect their feet. Would you do that? Would you give bathe your grandma? Would you do your mom’s toenails? What about a stranger’s toenails? For free!!!! Would you do that? Let’s suppose you ha...

No pain No gain

Premenstrual syndrome. It is real. Women love hiding behind it. Men will never know what is to bleed every month like a clock. Men wouldn’t bear like we do, the cramps, the mood swings, the headaches, and so many other symptoms. But still, we feel like we should be better and smile, whenever possible. Although sometimes it is the hardest thing to do. We submit to this moment. We cave, we cry, we hate ourselves, we are also happy because it is what it is and having it the most time it means that we have a healthy body. But it is not pleasing for us, yet we go through it, we have no other choice. It is something we dread; we conflict with it. We can control our pain, but we cannot deal perfectly with our mood during this time of the month. Sorry men, you just have to accept that. God made us this way. Imagine Esther, the queen. She was chosen because of her beauty. Nothing else. But somehow it had been 30 days since the king had requested her presence. What was...

An easy fix? // Solução fácil?

Who doesn’t like an easy fix? Better a fast fix! We all would love that our problems were easy to fix. Or that someone could fix them for us. Instead, they drag us out through days, months even years, and we still don’t know how to fix them. Why? Maybe because we are always looking for easy and fast ways to solve them. When I was a kid in school, my math teachers used to say, “Read the questions more than once, so you don’t make mistakes”. So many times, I made foolish mistakes just because I didn’t pay enough attention to the question. In Esther 4:4 – 8 ( read it here ), Esther wanted to fix the problem by changing the appearance of Mordecai. But even if he had accepted that that wouldn’t change the real reason why he was wearing sackcloth and ashes. We usually think that changing the outside is enough. Sometimes we know that changing the outside doesn’t change anything, but it buys us some time to fix the problem or to worsen it. So, Mordecai instructed the e...
