What is your goal? What do you want to accomplish? And then what? What happens when you accomplish that? You’re done? You’re going to lay down on the bed and stay there waiting for … what? Death? Or do you think that only when you are old, you’ll be ready to enjoy the life because the version elder of you are going to be healthy, rich and full of energy to go around the world and enjoy the rest of your few days?
Bravo!
What a goal!
But you are forgetting something crucial. You don’t know what lays ahead. You don’t even know what is going to happen next hour (you think you do), who knows in a decade or two!
Let’s start again. What is your goal? What do you want to accomplish? And then what? Are you done or you’re going to try new goals now? Aren’t you tired enough? Aren’t you complete or satisfied with the way you have lived?
You who are young, be happy while you are young,
and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth.
Follow the ways of your heart
and whatever your eyes see,
but know that for all these things
God will bring you into judgment.
So then, banish anxiety from your heart
and cast off the troubles of your body,
for youth and vigor are meaningless. (Ecclesiastes 11:9 – 10)
Pay attention to the underlined parts. You don’t go around thinking that the right thing to do is “follow the heart” because the heart is a fool and it will fool you. You can even do whatever you like, but KNOW ALSO that not just anything goes, you have to answer to God for every last bit of it. Do not walk out of here thinking that your heart is the wisest guru on earth, and your know-it-all heart is going to take you to the happily-ever-after! First, put your heart in the right direction, then you might think about it.
Remember, you won’t last forever neither the things you achieve here. However, you can live forever if only you have the citizenship of heaven. But I think you don’t want it because you are not sure of it, you like the material, the touchable. I read in a book “quantity is no assurance of quality. Many people who have the things money can buy have lost the things money cannot buy” (Wiersbe, Warren W. Be Joyful). You might know that money can buy many things, but cannot buy love, hope, family.
Although Solomon had said to follow your heart, he also told you that God will bring it to judgment. So, you better think twice before going after your heart blindly. Therefore, the Bible admonishes us about the heart –
The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? (Jeremiah 17:9)
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. (Proverbs 4:23)
Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh (also known as heart). (Romans 13:14)
Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”— (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
I will rather be sober than live a crazy life (although I’ve tried it and it didn’t give me steadfastness). I have a goal. My goal is to keep my citizenship of heaven (Philippians 3:20). I have been learning how to be a citizen of heaven, because there I will have a new body (no more pain, no more tears), and it will last forever. This, what we have here, it won’t come with me and it won’t last forever.
So, live like this life matters just for today, for now, this moment. Do not do what your heart tells you, but what your mind in Christ commands you. Work hard to do what is good not only for you but especially for others. Care and love without looking into the person’s life and problems. Care and love not because they share with you the same opinions but because they disagree with you. Try on their shoes for a moment; live their lives for a moment. It isn’t pretty like yours. Everybody hides something, love them anyway.
But know all these things God will bring you into judgment. Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity. (Ecclesiastes 11:9b - 10).

Qual é o teu objetivo? O que você quer alcançar? E então o que? O que acontece quando você faz isso? Você está feito? Você vai se deitar na cama e ficar lá esperando ... o que? Morte? Ou você acha que somente quando você estiver velho, você estará pronto para aproveitar a vida, porque a versão mais velha de você vai ser saudável, rica e cheia de energia para dar a volta ao mundo e aproveitar o resto de seus poucos dias?
Bravo!
Que objetivo!
Mas você está esquecendo de algo crucial. Você não sabe o que está por vir. Você nem sabe o que vai acontecer na próxima hora (você acha que sabe), quem sabe em uma década ou duas!
Vamos começar novamente. Qual é o teu objetivo? O que você quer alcançar? E então o que? Você terminou ou vai tentar novas metas agora? Você não está cansado o suficiente? Você não está completo ou satisfeito com a maneira como viveu?
Você que é jovem, seja feliz enquanto for jovem
e deixe o seu coração dar-lhe alegria nos dias da sua juventude.
Siga os caminhos do seu coração
e tudo o que seus olhos veem
mas saiba que para todas essas coisas
Deus te trará a julgamento.
Então, banir a ansiedade do seu coração
e arrematar os problemas do seu corpo
para juventude e vigor são sem sentido. (Eclesiastes 11: 9-10)
Preste atenção nas partes sublinhadas. Você não sai por aí pensando que a coisa certa a fazer é "seguir o coração", porque o coração é um tolo e vai enganar você. Você pode até fazer o que quiser, mas SAIBA TAMBÉM que não é só o que acontece, você tem que responder a Deus para cada gota dele. Não saia daqui pensando que o seu coração é o guru mais sábio da Terra, e o seu coração sabe-tudo vai levar você aos felizes-para-sempre! Primeiro, coloque seu coração na direção certa, então você pode pensar sobre isso.
Lembre-se, você não vai durar para sempre nem as coisas que você consegue aqui. No entanto, você pode viver para sempre se tiver a cidadania do céu. Mas eu acho que você não quer porque você não tem certeza disso, você gosta do material, do palpável. Eu li em um livro “quantidade não é garantia de qualidade. Muitas pessoas que têm as coisas que o dinheiro pode comprar perderam as coisas que o dinheiro não pode comprar ”(Wiersbe, Warren W. Be Joyful). Você pode saber que o dinheiro pode comprar muitas coisas, mas não pode comprar amor, esperança, família.
Embora Salomão tenha dito que seguisse seu coração, ele também lhe disse que Deus o levará a julgamento. Então, é melhor você pensar duas vezes antes de ir atrás do seu coração cegamente. Portanto, a Bíblia nos adverte sobre o coração -
O coração é enganoso acima de todas as coisas e além da cura. Quem pode entender isso? (Jeremias 17: 9)
Acima de tudo, guarde seu coração, pois tudo o que você faz flui dele. (Provérbios 4:23)
Antes, vista-se com o Senhor Jesus Cristo e não pense em como satisfazer os desejos da carne (também conhecido como coração). (Romanos 13:14)
Lembre-se de seu Criador nos dias de sua juventude, antes que cheguem os dias de angústia e os anos se aproximem quando você disser: “Não sinto prazer neles” (Eclesiastes 12: 1).
Eu prefiro ficar sóbria do que viver uma vida louca (embora eu tenha tentado e isso não me desse constância). Eu tenho um objetivo. Meu objetivo é manter minha cidadania do céu (Filipenses 3:20). Eu tenho aprendido como ser um cidadão do céu, porque lá eu terei um novo corpo (sem mais dor, sem mais lágrimas), e isso durará para sempre. Isso, o que temos aqui, não virá comigo e não durará para sempre.
Então, viva como esta vida é importante apenas por hoje, por enquanto, neste momento. Não faça o que seu coração lhe disser, mas o que sua mente em Cristo lhe ordena. Trabalhe duro para fazer o que é bom não só para você, mas especialmente para os outros. Se importe e ame sem olhar para a vida e os problemas da pessoa. Se importe e ame não porque eles compartilham com você as mesmas opiniões, mas porque eles não concordam com você. Experimente os sapatos do outro por um momento; viva suas vidas por um momento. Não é muito bonita como a sua. Todo mundo esconde algo, ame-o mesmo assim.
Mas saiba todas estas coisas que Deus te trará a julgamento. Remova a aflição do seu coração e afaste a dor do seu corpo, pois a juventude e a aurora da vida são vaidade. (Eclesiastes 11: 9b - 10).
