No pain No gain

Premenstrual syndrome. It is real. Women love hiding behind it. Men will never know what is to bleed every month like a clock. Men wouldn’t bear like we do, the cramps, the mood swings, the headaches, and so many other symptoms. But still, we feel like we should be better and smile, whenever possible. Although sometimes it is the hardest thing to do. We submit to this moment. We cave, we cry, we hate ourselves, we are also happy because it is what it is and having it the most time it means that we have a healthy body. But it is not pleasing for us, yet we go through it, we have no other choice. It is something we dread; we conflict with it. We can control our pain, but we cannot deal perfectly with our mood during this time of the month. Sorry men, you just have to accept that. God made us this way.

Imagine Esther, the queen. She was chosen because of her beauty. Nothing else. But somehow it had been 30 days since the king had requested her presence. What was she thinking? Did he not care about her anymore? Did he have someone else? Was she boring? Was she annoying? Did she have an awful voice? Doubts. Just like when we are having our periods. Mood swings when we have doubts. And to make things worse, her cousin was making a scene in front of the palace, and he sent her a message, she had to go before the king and plea for mercy for her people (the king didn’t know she was a Jew).

What did she answer? “Everyone who works for the king here, and even the people out in the provinces know that there is a single fate for every man or woman who approaches the king without being invited: death. The one exception is if the king extends his gold scepter; then he or she may live. And it’s been thirty days now since I’ve been invited to come to the king.” (Esther 4:11 MSG). Suicide mission.

My goodness, it wasn’t enough to be unappreciated for the king for 30 days she would have to dare to go in his presence, risking her neck for her people. That wasn’t a good time for that. She was having doubts. Did he love her?  She was about to find out at the worse moment.

She needed to act, set aside all superficiality and make a good plan to at least try to save her people, or accept her fate, die trying.

Certainly, she could have hidden behind the law. As we many times do to avoid confrontation. We say, ‘we’re not in the mood’, ‘I have a headache’, ‘I can’t talk right now, cramps’. But the day comes when you and I have to face it and save the day.

You can hide behind diseases, tantrum, people, laws, work, but you know what you have to do, you can’t hide forever. We all have something that needs saving. A relationship, a friendship, a community, a church… set aside your superficiality, your ego, your pride, your stubbornness. Face what you fear. Remember, God is with you. You will survive (but whatever needs to be saved, may not). You have nothing to lose, your life if I remember right, it is not yours, it is God’s. He is up there waiting for you with your reward.

Face it. It may hurt, you may not see the result just yet, but if God puts a challenge in front of you, you should take it, and go through it. He did it because He knows you, He knows you’re able. You can do it (God is saying – you can do it, you can do it), He will strengthen you through Jesus.

No pain, No gain – isn’t it what they say in the gym?
Jesus knows that No pain No gain.

Imagine Esther, a rainha.

Ele a amava? Ela estava prestes a descobrir no pior momento.

Come and See + Judge correctly // Venha e Veja + Julgue corretamente

Venha e Veja   Two verses stood out for me this morning. John 7:17-18 and 7:24.   “ Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.   18  Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:24 “ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”   That was Jesus talking.  I lately heard that some people with vast knowledge of the Bible (we all want to believe) are being led astray through the vain doctrines of this world. Meaning, that some church leaders or people have earned the people's trust by telling them lies about the teachings of the Bible. People seek their own popularity by agreeing with the lies the world has offered them.  I have seen churches with flags and teaching doctrines that the Bible condemns. They have twisted the Word of God to be more acceptable and palatab

Are you lost? // Você está perdido?

Você está perdido? There is always this time in life when we are certain about what to do with our lives. We have a goal, and an objective to reach. However, it is often that life turns the other way around and our plans are made nothing. Frequently I hear people say, “I am lost, I don’t know what to do!” That happens when we put our goals into something that changes. Everything in this world change. You and I are changing by the minute. My thoughts right now are running like crazy, and if I don’t set a goal in something that doesn’t change, I can’t do anything. What is it?   Jesus. The word of God. You might think I am crazy, and lunatic or even a fanatic. But who really knows me, know that I am none of those things. I am a very sensible person who has lived and experienced many things. And I don’t lie. So, if you are experiencing a sense of loss and despair, how about putting your hope in the One who cannot change whatsoever. If you lost you

Pointing finger // Apontar o dedo

Recently I was studying the Sermon on the mount in a bible study at the church. It was wonderful to meditate and go deep in these Jesus’ words. So many details we sometimes don’t realize. We are very quick to see the flaws and failures of others. But interestingly the things we see faster in others are probably the things we don’t see or won’t see in ourselves. It is easy to point a finger when someone is, for example, throwing trash on the streets, when one doesn’t even bother to do the same at home. In Brazil, we have this saying “blacksmith’s house, woodpecker.” Who are you to point a finger to anyone when you yourself cannot do better? Your sin is no smaller than his. Jesus said, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ( Matthew 7 :3). Look, sawdust is something small, and plank or log is something much bigger than sawdust. Sometimes we are able to see something very insignificant in othe
