Day Five: Five Were Wise // Dia Cinco: Cinco eram sábios

Are you bothered when you spot someone throw trash on the floor, or through a car window? Yeah, me too! What do you do? What I do is sometimes pick up the trash and put it in a trash bin, but sometimes I don’t do that. Why? Because sometimes I am so pissed with these animals who say they are human beings, but don’t seem to care enough about their surroundings. We see homeless everywhere. We judge them. We are called to help them, yes, if we leave the house determined to help every homeless person we see on the street, soon enough we will be joining them. How then? a little faith, a little prayer, a little mercy, a little noticing them, and donating to some organization that can provide better care for them. Let’s judge less and take care of our surroundings. Day Five: Five Were Wise We can’t speak about the destruction of the environment without taking at least a little time to speak about the end of the world! But rest assured that this isn’t all doom and g...

Day 4: Sabbath Rest // Dia 4: Descanso sabático

The Jewish Sabbath is sacred to them. So you may think that Sabbath is a Jewish word it doesn't apply for us, Christians. However, what God meant by Sabbath, a day for resting, He wanted us, you and I, to rest and all the nature too. You can pick a Saturday or a Monday or a Sunday. But you and I need resting, so does the land and nature in general. God is the creator, the mastermind behind all that exists. Do you still think that resting isn't important? If the Creator said to rest, it is because he created the need for that, otherwise some consequences will come. If you work with not rest you will get sick, irritable and so many other characteristics that you know well; but the thing is, we are so self-absorbed that we think only we, humans, need resting. Not at all. God explicitly said to let the land rest, and the animals too. Do not go around thinking that you don't need a day (at least) every 7 days of resting. And some more after a year of work. That is why ...

Day 3: During my lifetime // Dia 3: Durante minha vida

We have seen in this generation the lack of patience in all terms. Everything has to be fast and disposable. I remember the time when fridges lasted a lifetime or light bulbs. Today, when I say that my cell phone is 4 years old people look at me with a different look. I have also realized that this kind of behavior is not restricted to things, but to people also. Relationships are lasting each day less. Nobody wants to work something out, people just want something brand new, the last new model in the market. The new fashion.  Have you asked yourself what to do with all the stuff that we "substitute" for a new one where did the go? By any chance did they disappear? Vanished? They might have from your house, but not from the planet. Where did they go? To a land field, to the ocean?  If we don't cultivate a habit of thinking ahead, who will come in the future will suffer because of it. If we keep thinking egotistically the future for the people who are being born an...

Day 2: All living creatures // Dia 2: Todas as criaturas vivas

Here we are again talking about the environment. And I will keep talking for some days because I think it is time for every one of us takes responsibility for how we live our lives. It doesn’t matter if you are Christian or not if you believe in God or not. We have in common one thing: the planet. The only habitable place that we have in the whole universe. I don’t have kids I sure could live without worrying too much about the future. But I know many people who have children and still act like nothing is happening or they can’t do anything about to halt this nonsense that is self-destruction. There are too many ways that men can annihilate themselves. One of those is by destroying the very and only place we live by not taking care of simple things like your trash and the things you buy. Let’s read what the man has to say about it today.   Day Two: All Living Creatures   How special are we in God’s design of creation?   There are two ...

Care for Creation as Evangelization and Worship// Cuidado com a Criação como Evangelização e Adoração

This is not my message, this is a message that I read and I will keep sharing with you because I believe this is the kind of message that we should become aware of this day. Every day from now on. Yes, we might be living the end of times, however, the end of times started when Jesus ascended to heaven. So, we may be living on this earth for quite some time now, are we going to let it burn because we have been careless for the last 200 years? God will hold us accountable for what we did, said and done, and not done too. The omission is also a sin.   Day One: Why don’t Christians care enough about creation?    Do Christians care about creation?  A lot of people would give a short answer: no.  We are told that we are living in a time of environmental crisis, but we can be slow to comment or take action. Worse, Christians often deny that the destruction of the environment is happening at all.  Messages about envir...

Stones of condemnation or words of hope? // Pedras de condenação ou palavras de esperança?

I am sharing with you this passage today because of what happens every Saturday morning here beside the building I live in. There is this group of people from a certain church to protest or to evangelize the people or better the women who come looking for their service at the weekend. What is this place about? It is a planned parenthood clinic. And the group is protesting about abortion. Ok… I am not against their protest or evangelization. I just think the way it is done is not really welcoming people to the kingdom of God. When the Pharisees tried to test Jesus bringing him a woman caught and adultery (John 8:1 – 11), Jesus asked them “let who is without sin among you be the first throw a stone at her”. So, the stoning didn’t happen, and Jesus said to the woman “Neither I condemn you; go and from now on sin no more”. He wasn’t condoning her behavior, He was giving her a second chance to get her business right. What has been bothering me since...

What kind of religious person are you? // Que tipo de religioso é você?

(Eu estou cheia do amor de Cristo!) What kind of religious person are you? This kind? (gif) Que tipo de religioso é você? Desse tipo? (imagem) “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in the mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. (…) If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit the orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1: 22 – 24, 26 – 27)   What is James talking about? If he had the New Testament in his hands, I would say he would be talking about Jesus’ sermon on the mount. Because that is what the Law and the Prophets are all about. Jesus taught how to...
