Clean up! // Limpeza geral

Hello, I am back. I am not sure how many times per week I’ll be writing, but the thing is: I will be writing.

I needed some time to think. Now I am done thinking. It’s time to keep the good work. Paul wrote letters from his imprisonment. I am not in prison, but I somehow relate to Paul. Obviously, I am not comparing myself to Paul.. hmpf! Who am I? Please, just one more little ant doing what God told me to do. I am a big fan of Paul.

Anyway…
Happy New Year!
I have read the whole Bible twice now, currently going into the third time and always there are many things new and fresh to my eyes.

Last year I studied the book of kings (in the church) and one thing that happened many times (in the Bible) and I didn’t know why they had to do in such a way. What is it? Well, before entering the promised land, way back to Moses; God has told the people (and left it written so the next generations could also follow the instructions) how the Israelites should destroy all things that belonged to the former inhabitants of the land and why they should do it, and what would happen if they didn't do it.

Everything was written.

First, they should get rid of everybody (Deuteronomy 7: 1 – 6; 12: 1 – 3; 18: 9 – 12 - scroll down). Kill them all, destroy it all. Yes, drastic. Some people get horrified by this, but as we all know – human beings are not very good at obeying – just ask Adam and Eve. In those ancient times, that was the way people use to conquer territory. If I am not mistaken, some nations still do practically the same. They kill a bunch of people and call it war, then possess the land. Same old same old.

But, did the Israelites do what they were told to? Nops... They did not. Then what happened? Well, we see throughout the history the problems they got into just because of this small detail, including the bid exile to Babylon – way ahead of Moses. But, you see, if God says, He will do it. If they had done what God said to them to do: annihilate those people; many problems would have been avoided.

If God tells you to stop doing something, otherwise... you better stop doing it. God knows better, don't you think?

And some people just don’t know why God took this drastic alternative. Let me show you. In Leviticus 18: 1 – 28 tells us all about those people and their practices. Practices that God called abominations. Watch it! The practices were abominations.

You know, God created everything beautiful and with a correct purpose; because man has sinned there back in the Garden of Eden, he brought corruption of the flesh, greed and so many other bad things that serve only to make a huge gap between God and man. Like a distance, every time we sin, we increase that distance between us and God.  All these bad things that we do and keep doing grow deeper and deeper inside of us, up to a point that we don’t see God anymore.

And man deludes himself thinking that he is able to live and have a very happy life without God, and by the end of it, all will be fine. This thinking of self-sufficiency kindness and goodness, there is no such thing inside of a man without God.

We have no good in us unless Jesus lives in us. Unless we know how to obey God. God loves all human beings, however, their sinful practices, God does not love, He considers them an abomination. At least not how He desires it to be.

There is a way to heaven while you are still breathing. Repent – have a change of heart. Put away all your sinful practices, look up to Jesus, consider His grace and His love, while you still can. Jesus died on that cross, so when the time comes, the time of the wrath of God comes, we, who accepted Christ as our Savior and Redeemer, we won’t be destroyed. That is why Jesus had to die on the cross; so, we could have eternal life and not perish. His blood was shed just so we don’t need to shed ours. He paid the price. If you believe in it and repent, you will be saved.

Quem sou eu?

Deixe-me te mostrar. As práticas eram abominações.

Pointing finger // Apontar o dedo

Recently I was studying the Sermon on the mount in a bible study at the church. It was wonderful to meditate and go deep in these Jesus’ words. So many details we sometimes don’t realize. We are very quick to see the flaws and failures of others. But interestingly the things we see faster in others are probably the things we don’t see or won’t see in ourselves. It is easy to point a finger when someone is, for example, throwing trash on the streets, when one doesn’t even bother to do the same at home. In Brazil, we have this saying “blacksmith’s house, woodpecker.” Who are you to point a finger to anyone when you yourself cannot do better? Your sin is no smaller than his. Jesus said, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ( Matthew 7 :3). Look, sawdust is something small, and plank or log is something much bigger than sawdust. Sometimes we are able to see something very insignificant in othe...

Are you lost? // Você está perdido?

Você está perdido? There is always this time in life when we are certain about what to do with our lives. We have a goal, and an objective to reach. However, it is often that life turns the other way around and our plans are made nothing. Frequently I hear people say, “I am lost, I don’t know what to do!” That happens when we put our goals into something that changes. Everything in this world change. You and I are changing by the minute. My thoughts right now are running like crazy, and if I don’t set a goal in something that doesn’t change, I can’t do anything. What is it?   Jesus. The word of God. You might think I am crazy, and lunatic or even a fanatic. But who really knows me, know that I am none of those things. I am a very sensible person who has lived and experienced many things. And I don’t lie. So, if you are experiencing a sense of loss and despair, how about putting your hope in the One who cannot change whatsoever. If you lost...

Come and See + Judge correctly // Venha e Veja + Julgue corretamente

Venha e Veja   Two verses stood out for me this morning. John 7:17-18 and 7:24.   “ Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.   18  Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:24 “ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”   That was Jesus talking.  I lately heard that some people with vast knowledge of the Bible (we all want to believe) are being led astray through the vain doctrines of this world. Meaning, that some church leaders or people have earned the people's trust by telling them lies about the teachings of the Bible. People seek their own popularity by agreeing with the lies the world has offered them.  I have seen churches with flags and teaching doctrines that the Bible condemns. They have twisted the ...
