United like wolves // Unidos como Lobos

You know how nature teaches us some wonderful things. Let us look to the wolves. A pack of wolves. They protect each other. They have a leader, the alfa wolf. All of them respect it. They are united. They cannot break the pack. They would die for each other. They are loyal to one another. We should be like a pack of wolves. The church of Christ and the family. We should always stand for each other. But that is not what really happens, is it? In our current worldview, we are more like… humans, I couldn’t think about an animal in the Animal Kingdom that is more selfish, and individualistic than the man. The man thinks that he can thrive by himself, he thinks he doesn’t need anybody. He thinks he is self-sufficient. But God didn’t create the man to be by himself. God calls us to unity, to love one another. To protect one another. Where is the unity in the world?

________________

Today, I was feeling rather unsettled. I first thought I should talk about unity. However, it didn’t feel right the way I put it. Then I let it go for a little while. I started reading another book, and then I felt what kind of unity I should be talking about because something has happened today. And it wasn’t a good thing.

In Paul’s second letter to Timothy 2:14 – 16;22 - 26. It is a long one, but it is worth it.

“14 Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.”

We are the body of Christ is known as the Church. We are the Church of Christ. Jesus knows His Church. He is not mistaken. And through Paul, He advised us about quarrels and foolish talks. What brings me to something else that Jesus himself said, “23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. (Luke 9:23 – 24)

The relationship between these two passages is – quarrels and deny yourself. Some people just have this desire, this fire burning up inside them that they feel like they have to say something, they feel like provoking, testing. Or maybe not, maybe they are just gullible people to the arrows that Satan throws inside their heads, and they burn…

Denying oneself is to think more before doing. Denying yourself is evaluating if your next step or word will build up someone’s character or destroy it. Denying yourself is to think first about the other and not in yourself. Denying yourself is putting in your dreams, rights, desires, thoughts in the last place, and thinking first about other’s dreams, desires, rights, and thoughts. Denying yourself means that the other’s life is more valuable than yours. Denying yourself means that the other’s life is more valuable than yours.

Why do you quarrel? Why do we have these disturbances inside our own homes if we know so much the Word of God? We must be watchful as the watchman is.

Psalms 133 says it is good and pleasant when brothers dwell in unity. Where is the unity if in our own home that we cannot find it? Deny yourself the urge of talking, fighting, and making everything about yourself. Let us listen carefully, with an open heart what the other has to say. Let us believe in our brother, we are part of the same body, the body of Christ. It must be unified.

Satan’s strategy is to divide and to conquer. Once he has divided your family, your relationships, your faith, your beliefs, he will come and conquer them. He will destroy from inside out. The devil doesn’t care how much is going to hurt. He will paint as the most brilliant thing to do, the right thing to do, he will say to you “you’re entitled to”; it is in your right. Remember he cannot conquer when there is unity.

When we stand firm together in the Word of God. And if the Word of God warns us about divisions, quarrels, gossips, misunderstandings, and so on; we must pay extra attention to it. How gullible we have been lately and letting the devil plant the seeds of resentment, dissension, rage, contempt … the devil has a big arsenal of seeds that he uses to divide any kind of relationship.
But Jesus has the three most valuable ones: love, hope, and faith. With those, the devil cannot win. Let’s be watchful for the devil’s attacks.

Hoje, eu estava me sentindo um pouco inquieta.

Come and See + Judge correctly // Venha e Veja + Julgue corretamente

Venha e Veja   Two verses stood out for me this morning. John 7:17-18 and 7:24.   “ Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.   18  Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:24 “ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”   That was Jesus talking.  I lately heard that some people with vast knowledge of the Bible (we all want to believe) are being led astray through the vain doctrines of this world. Meaning, that some church leaders or people have earned the people's trust by telling them lies about the teachings of the Bible. People seek their own popularity by agreeing with the lies the world has offered them.  I have seen churches with flags and teaching doctrines that the Bible condemns. They have twisted the Word of God to be more acceptable and palatab

Are you lost? // Você está perdido?

Você está perdido? There is always this time in life when we are certain about what to do with our lives. We have a goal, and an objective to reach. However, it is often that life turns the other way around and our plans are made nothing. Frequently I hear people say, “I am lost, I don’t know what to do!” That happens when we put our goals into something that changes. Everything in this world change. You and I are changing by the minute. My thoughts right now are running like crazy, and if I don’t set a goal in something that doesn’t change, I can’t do anything. What is it?   Jesus. The word of God. You might think I am crazy, and lunatic or even a fanatic. But who really knows me, know that I am none of those things. I am a very sensible person who has lived and experienced many things. And I don’t lie. So, if you are experiencing a sense of loss and despair, how about putting your hope in the One who cannot change whatsoever. If you lost you

Pointing finger // Apontar o dedo

Recently I was studying the Sermon on the mount in a bible study at the church. It was wonderful to meditate and go deep in these Jesus’ words. So many details we sometimes don’t realize. We are very quick to see the flaws and failures of others. But interestingly the things we see faster in others are probably the things we don’t see or won’t see in ourselves. It is easy to point a finger when someone is, for example, throwing trash on the streets, when one doesn’t even bother to do the same at home. In Brazil, we have this saying “blacksmith’s house, woodpecker.” Who are you to point a finger to anyone when you yourself cannot do better? Your sin is no smaller than his. Jesus said, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ( Matthew 7 :3). Look, sawdust is something small, and plank or log is something much bigger than sawdust. Sometimes we are able to see something very insignificant in othe
