How good are you?// Quão bom é você?

We aren’t good enough. The only good one that had ever existed is Jesus.

No matter how high you think of yourself, you are not good. You will never be, not by your own strength, power, or volition. The Bible says: for all have sinned (Romans 3:23). All – it means everybody. Not just a group of people, not just one age, but all.

We have been sinners since day one of our lives. Sin presents itself in several forms, shapers, frequency, size. If it is not pride, is arrogance, self-centeredness, prejudice, greed, covetousness, murder, homosexuality, hate, shame, guilt, and so many ways I cannot name them all.

There is only one way we can escape the wrath of God. Jesus said: I am the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus is the only way.

God is just. He will judge us fairly. He allows good things and bad things to happen to all of us. It is also a part of his judgment.

The only way we escape God’s wrath is by the blood. The price of our redemption is too high for us to earn it by ourselves. There is nothing we can do to buy us out of the judgment. There isn’t enough money neither enough charity that we can perform to be on God’s good side. Only if we believe in His Son and all the sacrifice He made for us.

We all have sinned. We haven't once cared enough for our neighbor, neither for the environment nor even for Him, the Creator.

But He not even for a second stop caring about us. What in the world could redeem us from ourselves? Nothing. We are helpless. What could be done so He could look at us and not see our sins?  We all deserve death as a punishment for our sins. Because God is perfect, just, and good. And we are not, because we have lost the ability to be like Him when Adam and Eve chose to follow their own ways, make their own choices, wished to be like Him. So, we have fallen short of the Glory of God. We only care about ourselves and thought that we are enough. We think we own our own lives. But the truth is: we are not enough, we don’t own anything. Everything belongs to God, He is the Creator. Therefore, we need redemption, we need salvation. Otherwise, we will perish forever and never we will be reunited with our Creator. He made us for eternity, but we wander off from his plan. So, He made another plan.

Jesus came. God made himself a man. He lived as we do, but He didn’t sin. He overcame sin.

His blood was precious enough to buy us out a way to eternity. His blood could cover our multitude of sins and the Father would only see His Son’s sacrifice for us all.

Oh! What a love! Even when we are in our worst, hanging Him on that cross, He still loved us. Even when we turn away from Him, He still loves us.

What does He want from us? He wants us in eternity with Him. He wants us to love Him back. He wants us to want Him as bad as He wants us.

How? Believing in Him, in His words, in His teaching and obeying them. He wants us to accept His love, His sacrifice on the cross, His resurrection that proves that will happen to us too.

He changed the course of history for me and for you. Would you not change your life for Him? Would you not want to be free from the power of sin over you? Would you not want to look a little bit good before the Father, the Creator, the owner of your life?

You do not know how much time is left. Believe in Him. He is waiting for you. Give Him a chance to change your heart.

We are all sinners in need of redemption.

Jesus.

Jesus disse: Eu sou o caminho, a verdade e a vida.

Tudo pertence a Deus, Ele é o Criador.

Jesus.

Pointing finger // Apontar o dedo

Recently I was studying the Sermon on the mount in a bible study at the church. It was wonderful to meditate and go deep in these Jesus’ words. So many details we sometimes don’t realize. We are very quick to see the flaws and failures of others. But interestingly the things we see faster in others are probably the things we don’t see or won’t see in ourselves. It is easy to point a finger when someone is, for example, throwing trash on the streets, when one doesn’t even bother to do the same at home. In Brazil, we have this saying “blacksmith’s house, woodpecker.” Who are you to point a finger to anyone when you yourself cannot do better? Your sin is no smaller than his. Jesus said, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ( Matthew 7 :3). Look, sawdust is something small, and plank or log is something much bigger than sawdust. Sometimes we are able to see something very insignificant in othe...

Are you lost? // Você está perdido?

Você está perdido? There is always this time in life when we are certain about what to do with our lives. We have a goal, and an objective to reach. However, it is often that life turns the other way around and our plans are made nothing. Frequently I hear people say, “I am lost, I don’t know what to do!” That happens when we put our goals into something that changes. Everything in this world change. You and I are changing by the minute. My thoughts right now are running like crazy, and if I don’t set a goal in something that doesn’t change, I can’t do anything. What is it?   Jesus. The word of God. You might think I am crazy, and lunatic or even a fanatic. But who really knows me, know that I am none of those things. I am a very sensible person who has lived and experienced many things. And I don’t lie. So, if you are experiencing a sense of loss and despair, how about putting your hope in the One who cannot change whatsoever. If you lost...

Come and See + Judge correctly // Venha e Veja + Julgue corretamente

Venha e Veja   Two verses stood out for me this morning. John 7:17-18 and 7:24.   “ Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.   18  Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:24 “ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”   That was Jesus talking.  I lately heard that some people with vast knowledge of the Bible (we all want to believe) are being led astray through the vain doctrines of this world. Meaning, that some church leaders or people have earned the people's trust by telling them lies about the teachings of the Bible. People seek their own popularity by agreeing with the lies the world has offered them.  I have seen churches with flags and teaching doctrines that the Bible condemns. They have twisted the ...
