"Deixe-o ouvir!" 

A dificuldade de ouvir

É difícil para os outros explicarem para eles.

Aqueles com ouvidos que coçam

Eles ouvem apenas o que lhes agrada.

Aqueles que ouvem com um coração nobre e bom

O tipo de ouvinte que todos nós deveríamos ser.

One day, I think I’ve read in a book, which one I don’t remember now, what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. For most people, this concept might be weird, filled with the Holy Spirit. But this is exactly what makes the difference between how a Christian behaves, speaks, what he/she listens, and what he/she chooses to see or watch. That is why when a new Christian starts changing the old crowd, he/she used to walk with won’t be fit anymore. It is not because the church demands, or it is a cover, or just superficial. It is the Holy Spirit changing from the inside out the person. So, what was common, usual at first starts becoming bothersome. The songs he/she used to listen to just don’t bring pleasure anymore; the way he/she used to talk starts changing, becoming cleaner, and so on. Only those who have the Holy Spirit, meaning who have really accepted Christ in their heart, will change. This is what Paul meant when he talked about the old has passed, the new has come. We become a new creature; the old self starts dying. No one will force that. It will come naturally. The true human being, the clean, the one whose self-respect has as a priority to respect others, becomes more evident. The love for one another becomes easier, not easy, but let’s say it will become less strange. It will become desirable. Well, I used to have a lot of friends from different backgrounds. They used to speak differently, too. I used to speak like them, with a lot of slang and bad words, and vulgar words too. Those things didn’t bother me. When I decided to really open my heart and let the Holy Spirit do a clean-up in my mind and heart, those old habits started dying down. I have noticed it. The TV programs that I used to watch changed dramatically. The violence started bothering me, the way the media sees the relationship, the valor and importance of family and marriage also started bothering me because they differ from what Jesus and the Word of God teach. They go the opposite way. The songs I used to listen to, it's not that I don’t like them anymore, it's just that I don’t feel like listening to them anymore. Once in a while, I listen for a few minutes, and that is enough. Why is that? You see, whatever I watch, listen to, and speak, there is someone much closer and present who prefers something different from those old habits. The Holy Spirit is in me. So whatever I see, He sees it too; whatever I listen to, He listens to it too; the way I now speak should reflect the way He speaks to me. Speaking bad words, gossiping, singing songs that are not for God, are not His cup of tea, if you know what I mean. Don’t take me wrong, I am not here to judge anyone. The Holy Spirit is the one who does this job. I am just telling you what has happened to me. Also, I feel compelled to say that when I hear from a Christian something that differs from that, it is like deaf-tune to a melody, it just doesn’t sound right in my ears. I believe even in non-Christians’ ears too, because we, Christians, are expected to behave in a certain way, and when we don’t deliver the correct message or image, it stains not only ourselves but also the Church of Christ and Christ himself. It is like the Holy Spirit isn’t doing his job, but in reality, we haven’t let Him do His job. We need to surrender not just our hearts, but our mouths, ears, eyes, hands (to do whatever is needed to), feet (to go wherever is needed to) to please the One who is due all the worship. What kind of fountain comes with clean water and then dirty water? If with our mouth we praise the LORD, this mouth should be sanctified and not defiled with vulgar and foul language. How can the eyes that read the Holy Scriptures be put through to see some porn? Can you imagine you showing that to the Holy Spirit?  We worship the LORD with everything that we have and that we are. We are what we speak, listen, see, eat… how we take care of our bodies is the house of the Holy Spirit. If we say we are His, how can we treat them in such a dishonorable way? If we treat ourselves in such a way, it is just expected that we treat others in the same manner. We need to set an example and live by it at all times, not just when we are in the church or in prayer, because we must have in mind, God is everywhere, so technically we are always in His presence, right? As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:15. Today, it means every time you read this, it is today. The present day. Let’s not harden our hearts and be attentive like Jesus said several times, “who has ear, let them hear”.

Um dia, acho que li em um livro, qual não me lembro agora, o que significa ser cheio do Espírito Santo. Para a maioria das pessoas, esse conceito pode parecer estranho, ser cheio do Espírito Santo. Mas é exatamente isso que faz a diferença entre como um cristão se comporta, fala, o que ouve e o que escolhe ver ou assistir. É por isso que, quando um novo cristão começa a mudar, o antigo grupo com o qual costumava andar não lhe serve mais. Não é porque a igreja exige, ou porque é uma fachada, ou apenas superficial. É o Espírito Santo mudando a pessoa de dentro para fora. Então, o que era comum, usual no início, começa a incomodar. As músicas que costumava ouvir simplesmente não trazem mais prazer; a maneira como costumava falar começa a mudar, tornando-se mais polida, e assim por diante. Somente aqueles que têm o Espírito Santo, ou seja, aqueles que realmente aceitaram Cristo em seus corações, mudarão. É isso que Paulo quis dizer quando falou sobre o velho ter passado e o novo ter chegado. Nos tornamos uma nova criatura; o velho eu começa a morrer. Ninguém vai forçar isso. Acontecerá naturalmente. O verdadeiro ser humano, o puro, aquele cujo respeito próprio prioriza o respeito pelos outros, torna-se mais evidente. O amor entre as pessoas se torna mais fácil, não fácil, mas digamos que se tornará menos estranho. Tornar-se-á desejável. Bem, eu costumava ter muitos amigos de diferentes origens. Eles também falavam de maneira diferente. Eu costumava falar como eles, com muita gíria, palavrões e palavras vulgares também. Essas coisas não me incomodavam. Quando decidi realmente abrir meu coração e deixar o Espírito Santo fazer uma limpeza em minha mente e coração, esses velhos hábitos começaram a desaparecer. Eu percebi isso. Os programas de TV que eu costumava assistir mudaram drasticamente. A violência começou a me incomodar, a maneira como a mídia vê os relacionamentos, a valorização e a importância da família e do casamento também começaram a me incomodar porque diferem do que Jesus e a Palavra de Deus ensinam. Eles vão na direção oposta. As músicas que eu costumava ouvir... não é que eu não goste mais delas, é só que não tenho mais vontade de ouvi-las. De vez em quando, ouço por alguns minutos, e isso basta. Por quê? Veja bem, tudo o que eu assisto, ouço e falo, tem alguém muito mais perto e presente que prefere algo diferente desses velhos hábitos. O Espírito Santo está em mim. Então, tudo o que eu vejo, Ele vê também; tudo o que eu ouço, Ele ouve também; a maneira como eu falo agora deve refletir a maneira como Ele fala comigo. Falar palavrões, fofocar, cantar músicas que não são para Deus... não é a praia Dele, se é que você me entende. Não me interprete mal, não estou aqui para julgar ninguém. O Espírito Santo é quem faz esse trabalho. Estou apenas contando o que aconteceu comigo. Além disso, sinto-me compelida a dizer que, quando ouço de um cristão algo que difere disso, é como estar desafinado para uma melodia; simplesmente não soa bem aos meus ouvidos. Acredito que também soa mal aos ouvidos de não cristãos, porque nós, cristãos, somos esperados a nos comportar de uma certa maneira, e quando não transmitimos a mensagem ou imagem correta, isso mancha não apenas a nós mesmos, mas também a Igreja de Cristo e o próprio Cristo. É como se o Espírito Santo não estivesse fazendo o seu trabalho, mas, na realidade, nós não o deixamos fazer o Seu trabalho. Precisamos entregar não apenas nossos corações, mas também nossas bocas, ouvidos, olhos, mãos (para fazer o que for necessário) e pés (para ir aonde for necessário) para agradar Àquele a quem toda a adoração é devida. Que tipo de fonte tem água limpa e depois água suja? Se com a nossa boca louvamos ao SENHOR, essa boca deve ser santificada e não contaminada com linguagem vulgar e obscena. Como os olhos que leem as Sagradas Escrituras podem ser levados a ver pornografia? Você consegue imaginar mostrar isso ao Espírito Santo? Adoramos o SENHOR com tudo o que temos e somos. Somos o que falamos, ouvimos, vemos, comemos… a forma como cuidamos do nosso corpo é a morada do Espírito Santo. Se dizemos que somos Dele, como podemos tratá-lo de maneira tão desonrosa? Se nos tratamos assim, é natural que tratemos os outros da mesma forma. Precisamos dar o exemplo e viver de acordo com ele em todos os momentos, não apenas quando estamos na igreja ou em oração, porque devemos ter em mente que Deus está em todos os lugares, então, tecnicamente, estamos sempre em Sua presença, certo?  Como foi dito: “Hoje, se ouvirdes a sua voz, não endureçais os vossos corações, como na rebelião.” Hebreus 3:15. Hoje, significa que toda vez que você lê isso, é hoje. O presente. Não endureçamos nossos corações e sejamos atentos, como Jesus disse várias vezes: “Quem tem ouvidos para ouvir, que ouça”.
