Keep calm and leave it to God // Mantenha a calma e deixe com Deus

When you are in trouble, or worried or even depressed, not knowing what to do… feeling hopeless or tired of this life, what do you do? Where do you go? Who do you talk to? Does it help?

Jesus once said in Matthew 6:34 is “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Don’t you think it is obvious? It is obvious, but why don’t we believe in it?

You see, maybe you didn’t understand it well. Tomorrow will worry about itself, which means that tomorrow or in a month or a year the problems of today will be gone, it will be solved. Isn’t it true?

For better or worse something will happen. Tomorrow another set of problems will come… What Jesus wanted you to know is, why worry about tomorrow? It is inevitable. You have already enough problems today. So, why spend time worrying about something you don’t even know if it’ll happen?

Like the AA preaches: “one day at a time”. We live today, we fight today and we win today. Tomorrow is another fight.

So, yeah… everybody worries. Some people do something about it, others don’t. There are those who postpone them and then, one day who knows?

I, on the other hand, leave it to the one who can solve everything. If I say I don’t worry, it is a lie. But I can say, I don’t waste a night of sleep because of it.

Like David when he wrote Psalm 55, he was terrified. He had pretty good reasons to be. He probably was running for his life. His trust in God was amazing when we compared ours to his. I look for rest and peace in his writing, because just like David, I need to trust in God and know that He is God, Sovereign. He sees everything. I just need to leave everything with Him.

Verse 4 and 5 David wrote “My heart is in anguish within me, the terrors of death have fallen upon me. Fear and trembling come upon me, and horror overwhelms me.”

Maybe he had some PTSD episodes, and woke up in the middle of the night, fearing, trembling… he spent 10 years of his life running, hiding, and living in caves. One man, the king, his father-in-law wanted him dead. And he used everything in his power to accomplish that. But God was with David.

God is just. God had a plan for David’s life.

In verse 16 David says, “But I call to God, and the LORD will save me. 17 Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan and he hears my voice.”

David had this intimate relationship with God, he wasn’t ashamed of telling God how he felt. So we shouldn’t also restrain anything from God. It good for your relationship with God, it good for your mind and heart. You will feel peace.

We only talk about our problems with people we trust. And when we do, we feel better, even knowing that most of the time that person won’t do anything. But with God, you can be certain that He hears and He can do anything. He will do what is necessary to make you feel better. Beginning with peace.

Verse 22 says, “Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you, he will never permit the righteous to be moved”. Are you righteous? Are you righteous before God?

And the very last phrase of this Psalm is: “But I will trust in you”.

How can you be righteous before God and have all this protection and provision from Him?

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the truth, and the life, no one comes through the Father except through me”.

When we decide to follow Jesus, consequently we accept his sacrifice on the cross to be enough to save and cleanse us from our sins, by faith, this is considered faith, so God also will consider us righteous, like his own Son.

We are accepted as his children too. We are heirs in his kingdom together with Jesus.

This is how we are righteous, through faith in Jesus. Invite Jesus to live in your heart today, and let the Father take care of you, as He took care of David.

Vivemos hoje, lutamos hoje e vencemos hoje.

No versículo 16, Davi diz: “Mas eu clamo a Deus, e o Senhor me salvará.

Pointing finger // Apontar o dedo

Recently I was studying the Sermon on the mount in a bible study at the church. It was wonderful to meditate and go deep in these Jesus’ words. So many details we sometimes don’t realize. We are very quick to see the flaws and failures of others. But interestingly the things we see faster in others are probably the things we don’t see or won’t see in ourselves. It is easy to point a finger when someone is, for example, throwing trash on the streets, when one doesn’t even bother to do the same at home. In Brazil, we have this saying “blacksmith’s house, woodpecker.” Who are you to point a finger to anyone when you yourself cannot do better? Your sin is no smaller than his. Jesus said, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ( Matthew 7 :3). Look, sawdust is something small, and plank or log is something much bigger than sawdust. Sometimes we are able to see something very insignificant in othe...

Are you lost? // Você está perdido?

Você está perdido? There is always this time in life when we are certain about what to do with our lives. We have a goal, and an objective to reach. However, it is often that life turns the other way around and our plans are made nothing. Frequently I hear people say, “I am lost, I don’t know what to do!” That happens when we put our goals into something that changes. Everything in this world change. You and I are changing by the minute. My thoughts right now are running like crazy, and if I don’t set a goal in something that doesn’t change, I can’t do anything. What is it?   Jesus. The word of God. You might think I am crazy, and lunatic or even a fanatic. But who really knows me, know that I am none of those things. I am a very sensible person who has lived and experienced many things. And I don’t lie. So, if you are experiencing a sense of loss and despair, how about putting your hope in the One who cannot change whatsoever. If you lost...

Come and See + Judge correctly // Venha e Veja + Julgue corretamente

Venha e Veja   Two verses stood out for me this morning. John 7:17-18 and 7:24.   “ Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.   18  Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:24 “ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”   That was Jesus talking.  I lately heard that some people with vast knowledge of the Bible (we all want to believe) are being led astray through the vain doctrines of this world. Meaning, that some church leaders or people have earned the people's trust by telling them lies about the teachings of the Bible. People seek their own popularity by agreeing with the lies the world has offered them.  I have seen churches with flags and teaching doctrines that the Bible condemns. They have twisted the ...
