Should Christians be part of Halloween? (part II) // Os cristãos deveriam fazer parte do Halloween? (parte II)

 

I want to start today with a prayer. Pray with me; this prayer was inspired by Paul, the apostle of Christ when he wrote to the Philippians. (Philippians 1:27-30)   Lord, only let the manner of my life be worthy of the gospel of Christ so that when people hear of me, I am standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by those who oppose me. This is a clear sign of my salvation. For it has been granted to me that for the sake of Christ, I should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, engaged in the same conflict that I have seen Your people do, and now Your people can hear that I also have.     And Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6”.   We celebrate Christmas, right? Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. We are celebrating the life: a new life, a newborn. Halloween is the celebration of death—the deceased.   There is only one God. One of the ten commandments that the only God was that we should not have another god. Because it is simple: there is no other god. However, you and I can quickly put something else in his place and worship. How can we worship? We worship with our time, our mind, and our heart and with our money. Can we decorate our houses to celebrate death and life? How much time and money do you invest in decorations? We occupy our minds and our time doing things for our God (or god). These are ways that we can worship.   I am not saying that you worship the devil if you go to a Halloween party. Therefore, you have another god. What I am saying is, How can we celebrate death and life with one and a half months apart?    Jesus is the life. Our life. Our reason for living. Our hope for eternal life.  But suddenly, is it okay to be part of a Halloween? How is that coherent? “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. (Matthew 12:30)      The devil likes playing tricks, twisting words, and making us believe that doing that has no harm. It is the oldest trick in history. He used it with Eve and Adam. He twisted God’s word, and he still does. And people still fall for it.  So, there is harm in falling for the oldest devil’s trick.  We should be faithful and obedient to God’s Word.    We cannot have two gods. You have to choose a side. Either you celebrate life, or you celebrate death. Either you are with them, or you are with the body of Christ. You have to go all the way. Compromise.    The devil wants us to believe that “there is no biggie,” “it is just a costume,” “a party.” “They’re only kids”. Exactly. Today, they are kids; tomorrow, they will be adults, doing the same thing. Our generation is confused. The devil has messed with their minds. Don’t you see they lack guidance? Instructions. Proverbs says that if you love your kid, you discipline them; if you love your kid, you teach God’s word.   But, if you keep doing what the world does, how are you being a light in the dark world? How can you use this opportunity to preach the Word? Yes, you are not less of a Christian because of that. But your testimony is. The testimony of the Church has become confusing. People will have a hard time understanding. What if a Wicca comes to Christ and she/he wants to leave behind all that, but suddenly she/he sees a believer putting on costumes for Halloween? Isn’t that confusing for an ex-wicca? Halloween is not a party for a Christian to be part of, not to say a Church.    We must be coherent with the Word of God. We must be true to that.  People out there will get tired of all the lies and come to the Church looking for the truth.    It is important to know where those things come from. Why do they do what they do, to whom this “party” is important? Is this just a party or something else?  We know that the witches are out there doing whatever they do. The devil is gaining terrain. We are losing because we keep playing with their tools. We keep playing the devil’s game. There is no time to waste. The time is running out. Jesus is coming back, and what have you done with your mina? Have you put it to use, or did you bury it because you were afraid of the world? The world will ridicule you, as they did with Jesus, but he didn’t get off the cross.    I have no idea what those people say or believe during their rituals, but I am pretty sure they are not worshiping God, the Creator. They might worship creations like the moon, the earth, the fire, the water, or whatever. They might as well be blaspheming against the Holy Spirit or not (I hope not).    I know that we should understand better what they do and what we do so we can be aware of misinformation. Satan is the accuser, the liar, the deceiver. That is why we must have the Word of God in our hearts, minds, and actions. So we don’t give to the devil any ammunition against ourselves. “Be aware of the leaven of the Pharisees.” They are way worse than the Pharisees. Be aware of the devil who comes in with a sheep’s skin; he is the deceiver.

Quero começar hoje com uma oração. Ore comigo esta oração, que foi inspirada por Paulo, o apóstolo de Cristo, quando escreveu aos Filipenses. (Filipenses 1:27-30)   Senhor, apenas deixe que o modo de minha vida seja digna do evangelho de Cristo, para que quando as pessoas ouvirem falar de mim, eu permaneça firme em um só espírito, com uma mente lutando lado a lado pela fé do evangelho, e não tenha medo de qualquer coisa por aqueles que se opõem a mim. Este é um sinal claro da minha salvação. Pois foi-me concedido que, por causa de Cristo, eu não apenas acreditasse nele, mas também sofresse por causa dele, envolvido no mesmo conflito que vi o Teu povo passar, e agora o Teu povo pode ouvir o que eu também tenho passado.     E Jesus disse: “Eu sou o caminho, a verdade e a vida; ninguém vem ao Pai senão por mim. João 14:6”.   Comemoramos o Natal, certo? O Natal é uma celebração do nascimento de Jesus Cristo. Estamos celebrando a vida. Uma nova vida, um recém-nascido. Halloween é a celebração da morte. O falecido.   Existe apenas um Deus. Um dos dez mandamentos do único Deus era que não deveríamos ter outro deus. Porque é simples: não existe outro deus. No entanto, você e eu podemos facilmente colocar outra coisa em seu lugar e adorá-lo. Como podemos adorar? Adoramos com nosso tempo, nossa mente e nosso coração e com o nosso dinheiro. Podemos decorar nossas casas para celebrar a morte e a vida? Quanto tempo e dinheiro você investe em decorações? Ocupamos nossas mentes e nosso tempo fazendo coisas para nosso Deus (ou deus). Essas são formas como podemos adorar.   Eu não estou dizendo que se você vai a uma festa ade Halloween você está adorando ao diabo, e portanto você tem outro deus. O que eu estou tentando dizer é como podemos celebrar a morte e a vida com um mês e meio de diferença?    Jesus é a vida. Nossa vida. Nossa razão de viver. Nossa esperança de vida eterna. Mas de repente, está tudo bem fazer parte do Halloween? Como isso é coerente? “Quem não está comigo está contra mim, e quem comigo não ajunta, espalha. (Mateus 12:30)   O diabo gosta de pregar peças, distorcer as palavras, fazer-nos acreditar que não há mal nenhum em fazer isso. É o truque mais antigo da história. Ele usou isso com Eva e Adão. Ele distorceu a palavra de Deus, e ainda o faz. E as pessoas ainda caem nessa. Portanto, há mal em cair no mais antigo truque do diabo. Devemos ser verdadeiros e obedientes à Palavra de Deus.   Não podemos ter dois deuses. Você tem que escolher um lado. Ou você celebra a vida ou você celebra a morte. Ou você está com eles ou está com o corpo de Cristo. Você tem que ir até o fim. Compromisso.   O diabo quer que acreditemos que “não há nada demais”, “é apenas uma fantasia”, “uma festa”. “Eles são apenas crianças”. Exatamente. Hoje são crianças, amanhã serão adultos, fazendo a mesma coisa. Nossa geração está confusa. O diabo mexeu com suas mentes. Você não vê que eles não têm orientação? Instruções. Em Provérbios diz que se você ama seu filho você o disciplina, se você ama seu filho você ensina a palavra de Deus. Mas, se você continuar fazendo o que o mundo faz, como você será uma luz no mundo das trevas? Como você pode aproveitar esta oportunidade para pregar a Palavra? Sim, você não é menos cristão por causa disso. Mas o seu testemunho é. O testemunho da Igreja tornou-se confuso. As pessoas terão dificuldade em entender. E se um Wicca vier a Cristo e quiser deixar tudo isso para trás, mas de repente vir um crente vestindo fantasias para o Halloween? Isso não é confuso para uma ex-wicca? O Halloween não é uma festa da qual um cristão pode participar. Para não dizer uma Igreja.   Devemos ser coerentes com a Palavra de Deus. Devemos ser fiéis a isso. As pessoas lá fora ficarão cansadas de todas as mentiras e virão para a Igreja em busca da verdade.     É importante saber de onde vêm essas coisas. Por que fazem o que fazem, para quem esta “festa” é importante? Isso é apenas uma festa ou algo mais? Sabemos que as bruxas estão por aí fazendo tudo o que fazem. O diabo está ganhando terreno. Estamos perdendo porque continuamos brincando com suas ferramentas. Continuamos fazendo o jogo do diabo. Não há tempo a perder. O tempo está acabando. Jesus está voltando e o que você fez com a sua mina? Você o usou ou enterrou porque tinha medo do mundo? O mundo irá ridicularizar você, como fizeram com Jesus, mas ele não saiu da cruz.   Não tenho ideia do que essas pessoas dizem ou acreditam durante seus rituais, mas tenho quase certeza de que não estão adorando a Deus, o Criador. Eles podem estar adorando criações como a lua, a terra, o fogo, a água ou qualquer outra coisa. Eles poderiam muito bem estar blasfemando contra o Espírito Santo ou não (espero que não).   Uma coisa que sei é que deveríamos compreender melhor o que eles fazem e o que nós fazemos para não sermos enganados pela desinformação. Satanás é o acusador, o mentiroso, o enganador. É por isso que devemos ter a Palavra de Deus em nossos corações, mentes e ações. Por isso não damos ao diabo nenhuma munição contra nós mesmos. “Esteja ciente do fermento dos fariseus.” Eles são muito piores que os fariseus. Esteja atento ao diabo que entra com pele de ovelha; ele é o enganador.
