In my last post, I wanted to discuss something, but in the end, I came out with something different. Therefore, now I am going to talk about what I meant for last week. We see everywhere today people hating religions above everything else. Because they think religion is the root of all evil. Mistakenly, the root of all evil is money, but this is subject to another post. What I want to say is if you take your time to learn what the religions are about, you will see that there are tremendous differences between them. But you will see in none of them the main character calling people to love one another as oneself. So, the hatred you see today against Christianity is because our God stands against what the world praises the most. The self, self-sufficiency, and money. The world abhors the thought of giving up one's life because of others, putting others first, or having a different system of values. Like marriage. Why are people not getting married as much as a few decades ago? Because marriage means commitment, sacrifice, and denying oneself all these in order to make it work because two people choose to love each other above money, careers, jobs, families, and kids. It is not about adultery. Because when you are committed to another person, you choose to love and hold until death separates them, you won’t want to do anything that will jeopardize this relationship. But if you put yourself above the others, first the other, you will never be ready to commit to any kind of relationship that compromise your Self. Christianity is this. Commitment to a covenant with Jesus. Jesus becomes the center of the life of the believer. The believer doesn’t change because he was brainwashed. But because he chose to follow Jesus. And what does it mean to follow Jesus? Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, he must DENY himself and TAKE UP HIS CROSS, and FOLLOW me.” (Mark 8:34) The believer who really understands the meaning of this statement will certainly change. It is a choice. Christianity = following Jesus is a choice. A choice that you make in your heart and mind. No one can force you to do anything. So, “denying self means that we repudiate our natural feelings about ourselves, our ownership of ourselves, and even our right to run our lives. We abdicate the right to decide what we are going to do or where we are going to go.”(Ray C. Stedman) I must correct myself here, and it is a heart-wash kind of thing. The decision made is conscientious; however, what happens after is we are filled with a desire to change because when we look at ourselves in the mirror, we see so many bad decisions and errors that we see the need for a change and Jesus that now is living in our heart will guide this change. When a person decides to accept Jesus as his savior and Lord, He is the one calling the shots now. He paid for us with his blood. We weren’t cheap, and we cost His life. All these mistakes and bad decisions He bought them and blotted them out of existence. Now, we look good in front of God, the Father. The second thing that Jesus said is, “Take up your cross”. What cross? My hardships? The annoying people we see every day? What cross is that? It is none of those. You can call these trials, tests, improvements, or errors that must be corrected. The cross means everything you go through because you have decided to follow Christ. The shame, the judgment, the pain, the humiliation, everything just because you said: “I am a Christian.” “Whatever happens to us for the sake of the gospel, we are to accept it, glory in it, and cling to it, because that is our cross. God will give us the grace to endure it. He will use that terrible circumstance in our lives to make us more like Christ, and the ultimate result will be resurrection and glory, just as the cross led to resurrection and glory in the life of Jesus” (Ray C. Stedman).
Nowadays, people have “pain-phobia”. Children don’t even have a scar on their kneecaps because the parents make them wear protection. How are these kids going to grow up without feeling pain? By any chance they won’t find any difficulty in life? No heartbroken? What a life! With no stories to tell, no victories to sing about. I really feel for this generation. But anyway. Third, “Follow me,” Jesus said. After you deny yourself and take up your cross, now, you are ready to follow Jesus. Meaning you will feel the need to obey Jesus’ commandments. Jesus will live inside of your heart, holding the steering wheel of your life, but you can always override Him, but the guarantee that in the end it will be good disappears. Get this: Jesus loves you. If you trust in Him, and you should, so you shouldn’t be afraid of His plans. Of course, He doesn’t tell the whole plan all at once. We must choose to obey Him. Let Him guide your life. What are Jesus’ commandments? “Love one another (John 13:34-35), love your enemies (Matthew 5:44), pray for those who hurt us (Matthew 5:44), forgive those who offend us (Matthew 6:14-15), show kindness even to the ungrateful and selfish (Luke 6 :35) and to give freely as we have received (Matthew 10:8). When we obey these commandments, we are being like Jesus and against the rest of the world. Not an easy task. “We are to obey even when obedience cuts across the grain of our feelings. Nothing natural, all supernatural.(Ray C. Stedman) All Jesus’ doing. This is not a decision of a moment but a program for a lifetime. (Ray C. Stedman). Every day is a choice that we make to follow Jesus. Breathe in and trust in Him. Only with Jesus can you achieve all those commandments. Look at Jesus’ life. Was it an easy life? I don’t think so. So won’t be ours. Being a Christian means to decide to go into the narrow gate, hard way of living, because we know what comes later. | No meu último post, queria discutir algo, mas no final saiu algo diferente. Portanto, agora vou falar sobre o que quis dizer na semana passada.
Vemos hoje em toda parte pessoas odiando as religiões acima de tudo. Porque pensam que a religião é a raiz de todos os males. Erroneamente, a raiz de todos os males é o dinheiro, mas isso é assunto para outro post. O que quero dizer é que se você dedicar algum tempo para aprender sobre o que são as religiões, verá que existem diferenças tremendas entre elas. Mas você não verá em nenhum dos personagens principais convocando as pessoas a amarem umas às outras como a si mesmas. Então, o ódio que vocês veem contra o cristianismo hoje é porque o nosso Deus se posiciona contra aquilo que o mundo mais elogia. O eu, a autossuficiência e o dinheiro. O mundo abomina a ideia de desistir da vida por causa dos outros, de colocar os outros em primeiro lugar ou de ter um sistema de valores diferente.
Como o casamento. Por que as pessoas não se casam tanto quanto há algumas décadas? Porque o casamento significa compromisso, sacrifício e negar tudo isso a si mesmo para que funcione, porque duas pessoas escolheram amar uma à outra acima do dinheiro, da carreira, do emprego, da família e dos filhos. Não se trata de adultério. Porque quando você está comprometido com outra pessoa, você escolhe amar e abraçar até que a morte os separe, você não vai querer fazer nada que prejudique esse relacionamento. Mas se você se colocar acima dos outros, primeiro do outro, nunca estará pronto para se comprometer com qualquer tipo de relacionamento que comprometa o seu Eu.
O cristianismo é isso. Compromisso. Uma aliança com Jesus. Jesus se torna o centro da vida do crente. O crente não muda porque sofreu uma lavagem cerebral. Mas porque ele escolheu seguir Jesus. E o que significa seguir Jesus? Jesus disse: “Se alguém quiser vir após mim, negue-se a si mesmo, tome a sua cruz e siga-me”. (Marcos 8:34) O crente que realmente entende o significado desta afirmação certamente mudará. É uma escolha. Cristianismo = seguir Jesus é uma escolha. Uma escolha que você faz em seu coração e mente. Ninguém pode forçá-lo a fazer nada. Portanto, “negar a nós mesmos significa que repudiamos os nossos sentimentos naturais sobre nós mesmos, a nossa propriedade de nós mesmos e até mesmo o nosso direito de dirigir as nossas vidas. Abdicamos do direito de decidir o que vamos fazer ou para onde vamos.”(Ray C. Stedman)
Devo me corrigir aqui, e é uma espécie de lavagem de coração. A decisão tomada é consciente; porém, o que acontece depois é que ficamos cheios de vontade de mudar porque quando nos olhamos no espelho, vemos tantas decisões erradas e erros que vemos a necessidade de uma mudança e Jesus que agora está vivendo em nosso coração irá orientar essa mudança. Quando uma pessoa decide aceitar Jesus como seu salvador e Senhor, é Ele quem manda agora. Ele pagou por nós com seu sangue. Não fomos baratos e custamos Sua vida. Todos esses erros e decisões erradas Ele os comprou e os apagou da existência. Agora, ficamos bem diante de Deus, o Pai.
A segunda coisa que Jesus disse é: “Tome a sua cruz”. Que cruz? Minhas dificuldades? As pessoas irritantes que vemos todos os dias? Que cruz é essa? Não é nada disso. Você pode chamar essas tentativas, testes, melhorias ou erros que devem ser corrigidos. A cruz significa tudo o que você passa porque decidiu seguir a Cristo. A vergonha, o julgamento, a dor, a humilhação, tudo só porque você disse: “Eu sou cristão”. “Aconteça o que acontecer conosco por causa do evangelho, devemos aceitá-lo, nos gloriarmos nisso e nos apegarmos a isso, porque essa é a nossa cruz. Deus nos dará a graça de suportá-lo. Ele usará essa terrível circunstância em nossas vidas para nos tornar mais semelhantes a Cristo, e o resultado final será a ressurreição e a glória, assim como a cruz levou à ressurreição e à glória na vida de Jesus” (Ray C. Stedman).
Hoje em dia, as pessoas têm “fobia da dor”. As crianças nem têm cicatriz nas rótulas porque os pais as obrigam a usar proteção. Como essas crianças vão crescer sem sentir dor? Por acaso eles não encontrarão nenhuma dificuldade na vida? Sem coração partido? Que vida! Sem histórias para contar, sem vitórias para cantar. Eu realmente sinto por esta geração. Mas enfim.
Terceiro, “Siga-me”, disse Jesus. Depois de negar a si mesmo e tomar sua cruz, agora você está pronto para seguir Jesus. Isso significa que você sentirá a necessidade de obedecer aos mandamentos de Jesus. Jesus viverá dentro do seu coração, segurando o volante da sua vida, mas você sempre pode passar por cima dele, mas a garantia de que no final tudo será bom desaparece.
Veja só: Jesus ama você. Se você confia Nele, e deveria, então não deveria ter medo de Seus planos. É claro que Ele não conta todo o plano de uma vez. Devemos escolher obedecê-Lo. Deixe que Ele guie sua vida. Quais são os mandamentos de Jesus? “Amem uns aos outros (João 13:34-35), amem seus inimigos (Mateus 5:44), orem por aqueles que nos machucam (Mateus 5:44), perdoem aqueles que nos ofendem (Mateus 6:14-15), mostre gentileza até mesmo para os ingratos e egoístas (Lucas 6:35) e dar gratuitamente como recebemos (Mateus 10:8). Quando obedecemos a estes mandamentos, estamos sendo como Jesus e contra o resto do mundo. Não é uma tarefa fácil. “Devemos obedecer mesmo quando a obediência vai contra nossos sentimentos. Nada natural, tudo sobrenatural. (Ray C. Stedman) Tudo obra de Jesus. Esta não é uma decisão de um momento, mas um programa para toda a vida. (Ray C. Stedman).
Cada dia é uma escolha que fazemos para seguir Jesus. Inspire e confie Nele. Somente com Jesus você pode cumprir todos esses mandamentos. Veja a vida de Jesus. Foi uma vida fácil? Acho que não. Então, a nossa não será. Ser cristão significa decidir entrar pela porta estreita, o jeito duro de viver, porque nós sabemos o que vem depois. |
