Sometimes all we want is a big demonstration that God is with us,
like when Elijah offered a sacrifice to the LORD, more like a dispute between
God and the prophets of Baal. And God showed His power (1 Kings 18: 20 – 40);
but in general, we only get the whisper. Like Elijah, who was very afraid and depressed running away to save his own life from Jezebel, the LORD came as a
whisper to him (1 King 19:11 – 13).
Sometimes we want God to yell, shout at us, to us and tell us what to
do because we don’t have enough faith to hear a whisper. We are too busy to pay attention to a whisper. So, we want a shout from everywhere, all kinds of signals so we are sure where we are going. And frequently we get very
disappointed because we don’t see any signal, we don’t hear any shout telling
us what to do. So, we either give up
or think God didn’t listen to us or even that there wasn’t an answer for us
at that time.
But God always listens to us, however, we do not always listen to God;
we are busy, always running, we don’t have time for anything. Isn’t it what
we are used to saying these days?
But in order to hear a whisper, what do we need? We need to be close;
we need to be attentive and we need to want to hear it. Otherwise, we won’t
hear anything at all.
Elijah was very afraid. There were people wanting him dead. God did
not forsake him. God went there, took care of him. How often do we realize God taking care of us? The food, the friends, the shelter, the clothes, and everything else.
God wants us to feel good and happy, but He wants us to be close to
him. If you are sad, afraid and in need of some care. Be close to
God, be attentive to His Word and seek His presence. He will take good care of you,
even in the middle of your problems.

atento à Sua Palavra e busque a Sua presença. Ele cuidará bem de você, mesmo
no meio de seus problemas.

The 2 Samuel 9 and 10 are about David’s kindness toward others. One person received his kindness humbly, knowing that wasn’t expected from that king in particular. Saul was the first king of Israel and did not obey the word of the LORD. Therefore, the kingdom was taken away from him and his lineage. God announced to Saul that he was going to give the kingdom to someone else. Being David. Because David was not a descendant of Saul, once he started reigning, it was expected that the new king, non-descendant of the former, would kill all the former king’s descendants so no one would stand in the line of succession. Bu David did not do that. Instead, he chose to show kindness toward the last person from Saul’s house. Saul’s grandson accepted David’s kindness. And we have a beautiful story about grace. Chapter 10, however, tells a different story. A story of a man who didn’t accept David’s kindness because that was what he was. A person who suspected everyone around him. He ...
