Are you judging me? // Você está me julgando?

“ Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure, you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. 6 “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you. 7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give hi...

I walk through the Valley // Eu ando pelo Vale

Psalms 23:1 -4   A Psalm of David. 1     The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2      He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3      He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness     for his name's sake.   4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,     I will fear no evil, for you are with me;     your rod and your staff,     they comfort me.   This is my favorite Psalm. Why? I’ll tell you why. Because since I was a child this Psalms always talked to me. Even when I didn’t understand much. Recently I read a book, a small one, that talks about this Psalms, and it gave me better insight and understanding. Now I love it even more. So, I am going to share with you what this book is about. But just a small part.   If w...

U-oh, the feminists won't like this // U-oh, as feministas não vão gostar disso.

I’ve been thinking about this subject and not quite sure how to put it. First, I was worried about people getting mad at me, or even disappointed, then I wasn’t finding the words.   But as I said, it’s been a couple of weeks now and I think it is time to write something. Finally, I got the conclusion that if I don’t start writing I might never get this out of my mind. If I wanted to make an essay about the theme it might be too large and people would be bored. So, I decided to make it a list. Perhaps I come back to this list and make a text of some of its points. This was the brainstorm that I made.   1.   Who has raised the men of the last 3 or 4 generations? 2.   It is important that women work outside their homes. But at what price? 3. Respect, kindness, and love don’t come naturally. Who is teaching them to the children? (back to question 1) 4.  W hy are so many women afraid of getting married these days? (back to the first qu...

Don't let anger cloud your judgment // Não deixe a raiva afetar seu bom senso

Do you say that you are a Christian? // Você diz que é Cristão?

Legenda - clique AQUI Today I heard a good quote from John McArthur, it says something like this: “It costs us nothing to become a Christian, but it costs us everything to live like one”. I like that because you can ask around and many people would say they believe in God, in Jesus. Many would also say they are baptized, but how many of them live like a true Christian? Christians say that they are heading to the promised land, which is heaven, where Jesus is seated in His throne beside the Father. Do you think this is a smooth journey? The moment we accept Christ in our lives, we are supposed to be His imitators. How good are you at imitating Jesus? Because, Jesus was born like a human, grew up like a human, matured like humans, and died like a human. However, He didn’t stay dead. Death could not hold Him. That is supposed to happen to all the imitators of Christ, a.k.a. Christians. But if you are not willing to live as He did, what are ...

Be gentle with the ignorant // Seja gentil com o ignorante

Three things stood out for me in today’s bible study. I didn’t comment with the women, I don’t know why… but that doesn’t matter. First thing was in Hebrews 5:2 says, “He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward since himself is beset with weakness”. What is so special about this verse?   To deal gently with the ignorant. That was a punch in my face. I have always asking God to forgive me for my arrogance, although not always I realize that I have been arrogant. Most people wouldn’t say that I am. But I know I can be sometimes. But since I don’t often realize that, I need to ask God to be humble and forgive my arrogance. I don’t feel myself better than anyone, not consciously anyway, but I don’t have too much patience with the ignorant or with the fools. I thank God to make me realize that now. Being aware of our sins is important, so we can be watchful to when we sin and immediately ask for forgiveness and try to change our behavior face to the fact. ...

deadly poison // veneno mortal

Another day someone told me that the book of Numbers didn’t have any good stories to read. I disagreed. I think Balaam’s story a good one. Everybody has heard of it, but few know where it is in the Bible. So, it is in the book of Numbers from chapter 22 to 24. What happened in this story? In summary, there was this king called Balak that was worried about the Israelites coming to his land. The Israelites were so numerous that creeped him out. So, he thought he could curse them and make them go away. He called a man whose name was Balaam, who was known for divination, but for real he served the LORD. So, Balak called him and demanded him to curse the people of Israel. Guess what? He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t curse a people who The LORD had already blessed. He could only curse a people which God had cursed. Balaam had a good business going on, right? Nothing could go wrong. But Balak insisted. God told Balaam that he wouldn’t dare to go against His will and...
