It is easy to love your best friend or your spouse, am I right? How about loving that rebellious kid, that ungrateful colleague, that unlovable person? How many times do you see yourself in the mirror for the day? Why is that? Don’t you know your own face? Do you love that person in the mirror? Most of people love themselves very much. The order of the day is: To Love Thyself, the more, the better. Really? So, how come the number of people committing suicide and depression and anxiety medicines have gone up? How is that working out for you? Does it make any sense? People are not getting married or having children. They think it is awesome to be without gender or whatever word they choose today. How is changing the natural course of life making people happier? Anyway… God loved the world so much that He gave his only Son, and whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Jesus came to fulfill the promise that God gave there at the beginning. Jesus also came to show us that it is not enough to follow the Law like a recipe; you get to live intensely. Jesus also said the most important commandment is: “The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. (Mark 12: 29 -31). Are you living like this? Hey, you, who claims to be a Christian since forever, are you loving your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength? Do you even know what that means? How do you love God? How can a person love God? Let me tell you how I understand this. Remember when you were a kid? Did you love your parents? I bet you did. Can you explain to me why or how you loved them? You don’t have a good answer for the “why,” but you may have an answer for the “how.” You might not remember, but you demonstrated your love to your parents by obeying them and trying to please them just to see their proud faces. If you didn’t obey them, what did that make you? A rebellious kid, a disobedient kid. And everybody got sad. Unlike our parents, many of them tend to disappoint their kids with their rebellious behavior toward God, or any other mistake that they may make, after all they are humans; God is love. And He loves us before we even make a mistake. He loves us regardless anything. To love God is to think of God as our Heavenly Father. We don’t need nor even have an explanation for this love. He commands us to love Him, because they know how rebellious we can become, especially when we don’t get what we want. So, God loves us; therefore, we can love Him. I said God is love. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends (1 Corinthians 13: 4-8). God is all that. By loving God and saying that He lives in us, we are supposed to be “Love” as well—or at least something that resembles God’s love. Therefore, the next commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself. Why? Because God loves you and your neighbor the same way. And how is it going? You said you love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. Have you loved all those around you and far from you, as well as people you don’t know as yourself? I am going to quote here from the book of my Bible study. He summed up what it means to love God as the commandment says. “Once the heart, or our will, has been moved to reach out to God, once our soul, or our emotional being, has been lifted up toward God, once the mind, or our thinking, perceptive, rational being, has been focused on God, then we must love Him with our strength. To love God with our strength means you obey God in all that He says. You apply your daily efforts and energies to fulfilling His will in your life. You demonstrate your love for God by daily living out His loving commands.” So, first, we must believe in God and in His Son and his sacrifice on the cross and resurrection. Then, we must love God because He will enable and teach us how to love our neighbor. We will practice loving our neighbor by being patient and kind; we will avoid envying, boasting, being arrogant or rude, giving in, not resenting, or being irritable… you get the idea. Hard, but not impossible. Because with God, nothing is impossible. So, love is not just a feeling. You love by acting lovingly. Why not begin reflecting on your relationships with family, and colleagues, then you move on to acquaintances and people who you don’t know and could show them some love? But you can always choose not to love Him. Then keep reading John 3:17-18 “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” I have this in my mind that I need to say it: Jesus gave his life; he gave up everything (his glory, perfect body, and unlimited powers) for me and you. How far are you willing to go for Him? How much of your life are you willing to give up for Jesus? How much of your wealth are you willing to give up for Him? How much of your time are you willing to give up for Jesus? Either you are light, or you are darkness. There are no lesser sins or bigger sins. There is sin. There is separation from God. Either you love or you don’t. What is it that you can’t give it up? This is exactly what God wants. He demands to be the First in your heart, mind, and soul. He abhors idolatry; everything you can’t give up is an idol. | É fácil amar seu melhor amigo ou seu cônjuge, certo?
Que tal amar aquela criança rebelde, aquele colega ingrato, aquela pessoa pouco amável? Quantas vezes você se vê no espelho durante o dia? Por que é que? Você não conhece seu próprio rosto? Você ama aquela pessoa no espelho? A maioria das pessoas se ama muito. A ordem do dia é: Amar a si mesmo, quanto mais, melhor. Sério mesmo? Então, como é que o número de pessoas que cometem suicídio e os medicamentos para depressão e ansiedade aumentaram? Como isso está funcionando para você? Faz sentido?
As pessoas não estão se casando nem tendo mais filhos. Eles acham incrível não ter gênero ou qualquer palavra que escolham hoje. Como é que a mudança do curso natural da vida está tornando as pessoas mais felizes?
Enfim… Deus amou tanto o mundo que deu o seu Filho único, e todo aquele que Nele crê não pereça, mas tenha a vida eterna (João 3:16). Jesus veio para cumprir a promessa que Deus fez ali no início. Jesus também veio nos mostrar que não basta seguir a Lei como uma receita; você tem que viver intensamente. Jesus também disse que o mandamento mais importante é: “O Senhor nosso Deus, o Senhor é o único. E amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo o teu coração, de toda a tua alma, de todo o teu entendimento e de todas as tuas forças. A segunda é esta: Amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo. Não há outro mandamento maior do que estes. (Marcos 12:29-31). Você está vivendo assim? Ei, você, que afirma ser cristão desde sempre, você está amando o seu Deus com todo o seu coração, mente, alma e força? Você ao menos sabe o que isso significa?
Como você ama a Deus? Como uma pessoa pode amar a Deus?
Deixe-me dizer como entendo isso. Lembra quando você era criança? Você amava seus pais? Eu aposto que você amava. Você pode me explicar por que ou como você os amava? Você não tem uma boa resposta para o “porquê”, mas pode ter uma resposta para o “como”. Você pode não se lembrar, mas demonstrava seu amor aos seus pais obedecendo-os e tentando agradá-los apenas para ver seus rostos orgulhosos. Se você não os obedeceu, o que isso fez de você? Um garoto rebelde, um garoto desobediente. E todo mundo ficou triste.
Ao contrário de nossos pais, muitos deles tendem a decepcionar os filhos com seu comportamento rebelde para com Deus, ou qualquer outro erro que possam cometer, afinal são humanos; Deus é amor. E Ele nos ama antes mesmo de cometermos um erro. Ele nos ama independente de qualquer coisa.
Amar a Deus é pensar em Deus como nosso Pai Celestial. Não precisamos nem temos explicação para esse amor. Ele ordena-nos que O amemos, porque eles sabem o quão rebeldes podemos nos tornar, especialmente quando não conseguimos o que queremos.
Então, Deus nos ama; portanto, podemos amá-Lo. Eu disse que Deus é amor. O amor é paciente e gentil; o amor não inveja nem se vangloria; não é arrogante ou rude. Não insiste em seguir seu próprio caminho; não é irritável nem ressentido; não se alegra com a injustiça, mas se alegra com a verdade. O amor tudo sofre, tudo crê, tudo espera, tudo suporta. O amor nunca acaba (1 Coríntios 13: 4-8). Deus é tudo isso.
Ao amar a Deus e dizer que Ele vive em nós, devemos ser “Amor” também – ou pelo menos algo que se assemelhe ao amor de Deus. Portanto, o próximo mandamento é amar o próximo como a si mesmo. Por que? Porque Deus ama você e seu próximo da mesma forma.
E como está indo?
Você disse que ama a Deus de todo o coração, mente, alma e força. Você tem amado todos aqueles ao seu redor e longe de você, bem como pessoas que você não conhece como você mesmo?
Vou citar aqui o livro do meu estudo bíblico. Ele resumiu o que significa amar a Deus como diz o mandamento.
“Uma vez que o coração, ou a nossa vontade, tenha sido movido para alcançar Deus, uma vez que a nossa alma, ou o nosso ser emocional, tenha sido elevado a Deus, uma vez que a mente, ou o nosso ser pensante, perceptivo e racional, tenha sido focado em Deus, então devemos amá-Lo com nossas forças. Amar a Deus com nossas forças significa obedecer a Deus em tudo o que Ele diz. Você aplica seus esforços e energias diárias para cumprir a vontade Dele em sua vida. Você demonstra seu amor por Deus vivendo diariamente Seus amorosos mandamentos.”
Então, primeiro, devemos acreditar em Deus e em Seu Filho e em seu sacrifício na cruz e na ressurreição. Então, devemos amar a Deus porque Ele nos capacitará e nos ensinará como amar o próximo. Praticaremos o amor ao próximo sendo pacientes e gentis; evitaremos invejar, vangloriar-nos, ser arrogantes ou rudes, ceder, não nos ressentir ou ficar irritados… essa é a ideia.
Difícil, mas não impossível. Porque com Deus nada é impossível.
Então, o amor não é apenas um sentimento. Você ama agindo com amor. Por que não começar a refletir sobre seu relacionamento com a família e os colegas, depois passar para conhecidos e pessoas que você não conhece e que poderia mostrar-lhes um pouco de amor?
Mas você sempre pode escolher não amá-Lo. Então continue lendo João 3:17-18 “Porque Deus enviou o seu Filho ao mundo não para condenar o mundo, mas para salvar o mundo por meio dele. Quem crê nele não está condenado, mas quem não crê já está condenado porque não acreditou no nome do Filho unigênito de Deus”.
Eu tenho isso em mente que preciso dizer: Jesus deu a sua vida; ele desistiu de tudo (sua glória, seu corpo perfeito, seus poderes ilimitados) por mim e por você. Até onde você está disposto a ir por Ele? Quanto da sua vida você está disposto a abrir mão por Jesus? Quanto de sua riqueza você está disposto a abrir mão por Ele? Quanto do seu tempo você está disposto a abrir mão por Jesus? Ou você é luz ou você é escuridão. Não existem pecados menores ou pecados maiores. Existe pecado. Há separação de Deus. Ou você ama ou não ama. O que é que você não pode desistir? Isto é exatamente o que Deus quer. Ele exige ser o Primeiro em seu coração, mente e alma. Ele abomina a idolatria, e tudo o que você não pode abrir mão, é um ídolo. |
Amar o próximo não significa ser besta. A bíblia nos ensina sobre confiar no homem ... Nos ensina sobre falsidade, e sobre mentes calcificadas. E nos alerta para não andar com eles. Amar o próximo significa dar o seu melhor.... E entregar nas mãos de Cristo. E não guardar rancor ou magoa.
