Cleaning up // Limpando


Once someone said to me, “Do what I tell you but do not do what I do”. What a hypocrite! Right?
In chapter 23 of Matthew Jesus woe the hypocrites; In verse 3 Jesus said, (…) for they preach, but do not practice. Over this chapter, Jesus called the Pharisees and the scribes of hypocrites about 6 times. How do you think He was feeling? I think He was pretty upset, angry and disappointed.
Would you like to make Jesus feel that way? I don’t think so.

Sometimes we are very quick to judge but slow to look ourselves at the mirror. Nobody likes being judged by others, not me and certainly not you. So, why sometimes you and I are tempted to judge? Why sometimes we say people to do something that we are not willing to do ourselves or we know we cannot do it ourselves?
Jesus compares our heart with a cup. He said in verses 25 – 26, Woe to you, scribes Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisees! First, clean the inside of the cup and the plate that the outside also may be clean.

Have you ever cleaned a glass? Have you noticed that we need to clean both sides otherwise it won’t look clean?
We are to be clean on both sides. Inside and outside. We must be transparent. Clean!
Another time, the Pharisees wanted to know why Jesus’ disciples didn’t wash their hands before eating. Jesus looks at this question from another perspective, not hygiene perspective, but a spiritual one. He said that it is not what goes into the body but what comes out from the mouth that defiles a person (Matthew 15:11).

It is all about what it is in your heart, in your mind. The greed, the lies, the corruption of your thoughts.
You should be worried about What God is seeing when He looks down to you, and not what people are seeing when they look up to you. Because the latter is better when the first goes fine.
In verse 12 of this same chapter 23 of Matthew, Jesus said, “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

I have to admit this is not easy to understand; the meaning of this verse is about the importance of having a humbled heart. But everything is about what it is in your heart. Deep down, only you and God knows. That’s what He is looking.

The apostle Paul said, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — if anything is excellent or praiseworthy — think about such things and the God of peace will be with you” (Philippians 4:8)

Uma vez alguém me disse: “Faça o que eu digo, mas não faça o que eu faço”. Que hipócrita, não é?
No capítulo 23 de Mateus, Jesus está repreendendo os mestres da lei e os fariseus. No versículo 3, Jesus disse: (...) pois eles não praticam o que pregam. Nesse capítulo, Jesus chamou os fariseus e os escribas de hipócritas 6 vezes. Como você acha que Ele estava se sentindo? Eu acho que ele estava bem chateado, com raiva e decepcionado.
Você gostar de fazer Jesus se sentir desse jeito? Eu acho que não.

As vezes nós somo rápidos para julgar, mas lentos para nos olhar no espelho. Ninguém gosta de ser julgado pelos outros, eu não gosto e certamente que você também não. Então, por que as vezes você e eu somos tentados a julgar? Por que as vezes nós dizemos para as pessoas o que fazer se nem nós mesmos estamos dispostos a fazer, ou mesmo sabemos que não conseguiremos?
Jesus compara nosso coração com um copo. Ele disse nos versículos 25 e 26, “Ai de vocês, mestres da lei e fariseus, hipócritas! Vocês limpam o exterior do copo e do prato, mas por dentro eles estão cheios de ganância e cobiça. Fariseu cego! Limpe primeiro o interior do copo e do prato, para que o exterior também fique limpo.”

Você já limpou uma taça de vidro, não é? Ou mesmo uma janela de vidro? Notou que é preciso limpar dos dois lados para que se veja limpo? Tem que estar transparente. Limpo!
Uma vez, os fariseus queriam saber porque os discípulos de Jesus não lavaram as mãos antes de comer. Jesus viu essa pergunta de uma perspectiva espiritual, não de higiene. Ele disse que não é o que entra pela boca, mas o que sai por ela que contamina o homem (Mateus 15:11).

Tudo tem a ver com o que está no seu coração. A ganância, as mentiras, a corrupção dos seus pensamentos.
Você deveria estar preocupado com o QUE Deus está vendo quando Ele olha para você, e não com o que as pessoas que te admiram. Porque esse último é melhor quando o primeiro está bem.
No versículo 12 do mesmo capítulo 23 de Mateus, Jesus disse, "Pois todo aquele que a si mesmo se exaltar será humilhado, e todo aquele que a si mesmo se humilhar será exaltado."

Eu tenho que admitir que este versículo não é muito fácil de entender; pois a intenção nese versículo é ressaltar a importância de ter um coração humilde. O que importa é o que está no seu coração. Lá no fundo, onde só você e Deus sabem. Pois é aí que Ele está olhando.

O apostolo Paulo disse: Finalmente, irmãos, tudo o que for verdadeiro, tudo o que for nobre, tudo o que for correto, tudo o que for puro, tudo o que for amável, tudo o que for de boa fama, se houver algo de excelente ou digno de louvor, pensem nessas coisas, e a paz de Deus será com vocês (Filipenses 4:8).
