Customer service // Serviço de atendimento ao Cliente

Today, in my daily readings, I realized how much God doesn’t like grumblings. There is only one place where God accepts our complaints. It is in the Psalms (for example Psalms 55), why? Because there is another kind of complaints, are your complaints like that? Or they have nothing to do with our daily complaints.

Where do I get this info? Well, I was reading in Numbers, and since yesterday (my readings from yesterday) people of Israel were complaining about Moses and Aaron and how they were leading them, although they were doing just what God had said to them. Yet, they weren’t happy. So, a group of people gathered together and started some sort of riot against Moses. That displeased a lot of God. Moses and Aaron were chosen by God, and God was in control. So, God warned them, as they didn’t listen, God killed them all at once. He opened the earth, and they fell into a hole. The people got scared, and instead of stopping the complaining, they kept going. So, God started a plague, and Moses and Aaron hurry to do something and ask God to stop, otherwise, God would destroy the whole people. (Numbers 16 – 17).

So, I don’t remember myself being much of a complainer, maybe I was. But I got to a point of understanding about complaining. Complaining doesn’t give me anything in return, only when I buy something that is damaged, I’m in the right to do some complaining in the right place with the right people. But I have known people that they seem to enjoy complaining. They complain about anything all the time. If it is not the rain, the traffic, the clothes, the shoes, the hair, the health, the health insurance, the weather, nothing is good enough. Do you know someone like that? They are just miserable.

What do you think about yourself? Have you checked lately what is coming out of your mouth? Did you complain today? What was it? The weather or the clothes? The bus was too crowded or there was too much traffic? Sometimes we can’t help it, it comes so naturally, right?

Wrong! All these things we should be thanking God. Think a little bit, try to look at the thing you complained about today with another point of view, a positive one. Try to find a reason to give thanks instead of complaining.

Now, remember, God was really angry with all grumblings, especially because people were grumbling against Moses and Aaron, and that my brother, we can’t do. You never, ever, grumble about a God’s chosen one. Go to Number 16:35 and 16:49 to get how serious God is when it comes to grumbling about his chosen ones.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. Complaining is your weakness, so prayer and let God show you His mercy and Grace. But if you can control yourself, let’s be aware of what apostle Paul said: “let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fit the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear” (Ephesians 4:29); “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God (seen in Numbers) comes upon the sons of disobedience (Ephesians 5:6).

Let’s finish like this: “Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (Philippians 4:8)
Give always thanks for everything to God, even when you don’t feel like thanking, because it is written: “giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 5:20).

If you need to complain, make sure you call the customer service and do it right.

Errado! Todas essas coisas devemos agradecer a Deus.

(Filipenses 4: 8)

My take on these stories // Minha opinião nessas histórias

The 2 Samuel 9 and 10 are about David’s kindness toward others. One person received his kindness humbly, knowing that wasn’t expected from that king in particular. Saul was the first king of Israel and did not obey the word of the LORD. Therefore, the kingdom was taken away from him and his lineage. God announced to Saul that he was going to give the kingdom to someone else. Being David. Because David was not a descendant of Saul, once he started reigning, it was expected that the new king, non-descendant of the former, would kill all the former king’s descendants so no one would stand in the line of succession. Bu David did not do that. Instead, he chose to show kindness toward the last person from Saul’s house.  Saul’s grandson accepted David’s kindness. And we have a beautiful story about grace.  Chapter 10, however, tells a different story. A story of a man who didn’t accept David’s kindness because that was what he was. A person who suspected everyone around him. He ...

Arise and eat // Levante e coma

He came to a broom bush, sat under it, and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough,  Lord ,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”   5 Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once, an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.”   6 He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. 7 The angel of the  Lord  came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.”   8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. (1 Kings 19: 4-8) How many times have you wished that this life were over? I have wished that many times. Sometimes it is just too painful, or sad, or hopeless, isn’t it? You know, Elijah...

Why does everybody want to love and be loved?

I believe that the world's problem is the lack of love for one another. Everyone wants to love and be loved, but when they can’t, chaos is set free.   Where do you think love comes from? Even the evilest person in the world wants to be loved and gives some love.  There is something about love that we all take for granted.  We want it. Sometimes, we have it, and we cannot hold it for long, not with our efforts.  People love asking for some long-lasting marriage about the secret of it.  Isn’t it interesting? Why do you want to know? Are you willing to love for real? People lately want to love but aren’t willing to give up anything for the other person.    People are too selfish to love. Too afraid to love. People don’t want to risk anything, not even the possibility of something good.   On the other hand, Jesus gave up his throne to become one of us and show us how to love to the last point. Jesus died because of our sins. He had to, otherwise we wo...
