Grains, wine and oil // Grãos, vinho e azeite

God was giving Israel a new land, where before they take possession of it, the LORD made promises and a new covenant with them. When you read this passage, I want you to think about the land as your life. A new life. A life with a purpose, the purpose of serving God, the Mighty God. I am going to underline some words and think about them.

Observe therefore all the commands I am giving you today, so that you may have the strength to go in and take over the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess;
But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. 12 It is a land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.
13 So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul— 14 then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine, and olive oil. 15 I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.
16 Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them. 17 Then the Lord’s anger will burn against you, and he will shut up the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land the Lord is giving you.”

I read and I was marveled. Now, before we continue, remember this, that God also said: “Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains, on the hills and under every spreading tree, where the nations you are dispossessing worship their god”. Deuteronomy 12:2 – Keep that in mind, because I won’t need to explain that for you as soon as I finish the first part.

I want you to know that there are 3 promises above.  1st Observe (v.8) the commands and the Lord will give you Strength; 2nd Obey the commands (v.13), the Lord will send rain in its season, and you will be satisfied. 3rd Be careful to not turn away from the Lord and worship other gods, The LORD will make you perish.

The rain means blessings – from the beginning to the end of your life. The blessings are from grain, wine, and oil – which may mean material, emotional and spiritual blessings – finances, the joy of life and anointing of the Spirit.  However, if you neglect your love for the LORD, you will notice that some of these blessing, if not all of them, will be lacking.

I am not preaching Prosperity theology, I am saying that God, like any father, loves giving gifts to His children, once they are a good boy and girl, otherwise, there will be punishments. When you take possession of this new life of yours, you can be rich spiritually, and be fully satisfied. But before, you must get rid of your old life, your old gods (Dt 12:2); you cannot serve two lords one said Jesus (Matthew 6:24).

Search in your heart what are the gods that you may be serving without even realizing. Is it money? Is it your job? Yourself? The “likes” on social media? Remember, God wants your loyalty, your sincerity, your heart so He can give you all the blessings you need, and you will be satisfied.

Let’s pray: Dear LORD, my God, teach me to be fully committed to You. Help me to get rid of the other gods that I am serving without noticing. I am yours, and You are my God. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.

Obedeçam, portanto, a toda a lei que hoje lhes estou dando, para que tenham forças para invadir e conquistar a terra para onde estão indo;

Eu li, e me maravilhei.

Oremos:  Querido SENHOR, meu Deus, ensina-me a estar totalmente comprometido a Ti. Ajuda-me a me livrar dos deuses que eu estou servindo sem perceber. Eu sou tua, e o Senhor é o meu Deus. Em nome de Jesus, eu oro, Amém.

Pointing finger // Apontar o dedo

Recently I was studying the Sermon on the mount in a bible study at the church. It was wonderful to meditate and go deep in these Jesus’ words. So many details we sometimes don’t realize. We are very quick to see the flaws and failures of others. But interestingly the things we see faster in others are probably the things we don’t see or won’t see in ourselves. It is easy to point a finger when someone is, for example, throwing trash on the streets, when one doesn’t even bother to do the same at home. In Brazil, we have this saying “blacksmith’s house, woodpecker.” Who are you to point a finger to anyone when you yourself cannot do better? Your sin is no smaller than his. Jesus said, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ( Matthew 7 :3). Look, sawdust is something small, and plank or log is something much bigger than sawdust. Sometimes we are able to see something very insignificant in othe...

Come and See + Judge correctly // Venha e Veja + Julgue corretamente

Venha e Veja   Two verses stood out for me this morning. John 7:17-18 and 7:24.   “ Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.   18  Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:24 “ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”   That was Jesus talking.  I lately heard that some people with vast knowledge of the Bible (we all want to believe) are being led astray through the vain doctrines of this world. Meaning, that some church leaders or people have earned the people's trust by telling them lies about the teachings of the Bible. People seek their own popularity by agreeing with the lies the world has offered them.  I have seen churches with flags and teaching doctrines that the Bible condemns. They have twisted the ...

Are you lost? // Você está perdido?

Você está perdido? There is always this time in life when we are certain about what to do with our lives. We have a goal, and an objective to reach. However, it is often that life turns the other way around and our plans are made nothing. Frequently I hear people say, “I am lost, I don’t know what to do!” That happens when we put our goals into something that changes. Everything in this world change. You and I are changing by the minute. My thoughts right now are running like crazy, and if I don’t set a goal in something that doesn’t change, I can’t do anything. What is it?   Jesus. The word of God. You might think I am crazy, and lunatic or even a fanatic. But who really knows me, know that I am none of those things. I am a very sensible person who has lived and experienced many things. And I don’t lie. So, if you are experiencing a sense of loss and despair, how about putting your hope in the One who cannot change whatsoever. If you lost...
