Greener grass // Grama mais verde

Psalms 73 some verses
2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled,
    my steps had nearly slipped.
3 For I was envious of the arrogant
    when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 For they have no pangs until death;
    their bodies are fat and sleek.
5 They are not in trouble as others are;
    they are not stricken like the rest of mankind.
6 Therefore pride is their necklace;
    violence covers them as a garment.
12 Behold, these are the wicked;
    always at ease, they increase in riches.
13 All in vain have I kept my heart clean
    and washed my hands in innocence.
16 But when I thought how to understand this,
    it seemed to me a wearisome task,
17 until I went into the sanctuary of God;
    then I discerned their end.

Who never looked to the neighbor’s yard and thought “their yard is always greener?” Have you wondered why? They seem to have no problem, while you are drowning in yours.

In the verses 16-17, first, try not to understand why they look always so happier than you. Second, you must search your answers in God.

In case you forgot, Jesus said “Do not lay up for yourself treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break and steal (Matthew 6:19); Therefore, I tell you, do not be anxious about the life (Matthew 6:25).
So, they are laying up treasures here. But, if you even stop to think, we are saved, and we know that death is not the end. It is more important to know and be sure where you are going to spend eternity than have a temporary good life here and a bad eternal life. Best is to play safe.

I’m sure you are reading this today, haven’t been hungry, naked or homeless. God has provided what you need. It might have not been what you wanted, but what you needed. So, why do you think richness is going to make you happier? Aren’t you happy? Aren’t you forgetting something? Like, to be more grateful for whatever you need has been provided.

Where is your heart in all this? Remember, wherever your heart is, so also it will be your treasure (Matthew 6:21). Make sure that your heart is in the right place.

Psalm 73:19 “How they are destroyed in a moment,
swept away utterly by terrors!” Look how surprised the psalmist was. Why? Because people who have God as refuge and fortress are not swept away by terrors.
27 For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.
28 But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.

Do not bother by the richness of the unfaithful, you have so much more than them.
Better is to play safe. Let their grass be greener. Because yours will be golden in heaven!

Let’s pray: Lord, forgive me when sometimes I fail to trust in your provisions. It is easier to judge the greener grass of my neighbor. I want to feel safe and never forget your faithfulness to me. God, you are the strength of my heart and my portion forever. In the Holy name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
Salmos 73 alguns versículos
2 Quanto a mim, os meus pés quase       tropeçaram;
    por pouco não escorreguei.
3 Pois tive inveja dos arrogantes
    quando vi a prosperidade desses ímpios.
4 Eles não passam por sofrimento
  e têm o corpo saudável e forte.
5 Estão livres dos fardos de todos;
12 Assim são os ímpios;
  sempre despreocupados,
    aumentam suas riquezas.
13 Certamente foi-me inútil

Eu quero me sentir segura e nunca esquecer da tua fidelidade. Senhor, você é a força do meu coração e a minha porção para sempre. No nome Santo de Jesus, eu oro. Amém.

Pointing finger // Apontar o dedo

Recently I was studying the Sermon on the mount in a bible study at the church. It was wonderful to meditate and go deep in these Jesus’ words. So many details we sometimes don’t realize. We are very quick to see the flaws and failures of others. But interestingly the things we see faster in others are probably the things we don’t see or won’t see in ourselves. It is easy to point a finger when someone is, for example, throwing trash on the streets, when one doesn’t even bother to do the same at home. In Brazil, we have this saying “blacksmith’s house, woodpecker.” Who are you to point a finger to anyone when you yourself cannot do better? Your sin is no smaller than his. Jesus said, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? ( Matthew 7 :3). Look, sawdust is something small, and plank or log is something much bigger than sawdust. Sometimes we are able to see something very insignificant in othe...

Are you lost? // Você está perdido?

Você está perdido? There is always this time in life when we are certain about what to do with our lives. We have a goal, and an objective to reach. However, it is often that life turns the other way around and our plans are made nothing. Frequently I hear people say, “I am lost, I don’t know what to do!” That happens when we put our goals into something that changes. Everything in this world change. You and I are changing by the minute. My thoughts right now are running like crazy, and if I don’t set a goal in something that doesn’t change, I can’t do anything. What is it?   Jesus. The word of God. You might think I am crazy, and lunatic or even a fanatic. But who really knows me, know that I am none of those things. I am a very sensible person who has lived and experienced many things. And I don’t lie. So, if you are experiencing a sense of loss and despair, how about putting your hope in the One who cannot change whatsoever. If you lost...

Come and See + Judge correctly // Venha e Veja + Julgue corretamente

Venha e Veja   Two verses stood out for me this morning. John 7:17-18 and 7:24.   “ Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.   18  Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:24 “ Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”   That was Jesus talking.  I lately heard that some people with vast knowledge of the Bible (we all want to believe) are being led astray through the vain doctrines of this world. Meaning, that some church leaders or people have earned the people's trust by telling them lies about the teachings of the Bible. People seek their own popularity by agreeing with the lies the world has offered them.  I have seen churches with flags and teaching doctrines that the Bible condemns. They have twisted the ...
